In case no one else mentioned it, the referee assignments for the Championship game have been announced: Kari Seitz will be the referee.
I asked the same thing when she was selected to help during the WWC. Different person than the MexWNT player. But still a fun coincidence. X-D
That would be really great to see a sellout of the 13K plus. Opening up standing room tickets on game day.
Good news for those who get Fox Soccer, but not Fox Sports 2- the final is being shown on both channels.
I can send them a list of about 900 channels that I dont get that they can pick from. Of course they seem to be doing a good job without my help.
Hmmm... I don't see it listed on the FSC website's listings for Saturday. But if it does, that's great news even for those that get FS2; as I get FSC in HD, but FS2 only in SD.
Sahlen's Stadium stuff for first time visitors. Sorry about the small image. The red dashed line is the player's walkway from the locker rooms on the right side of the photo to the southeast corner of the field. When the players are using it, temporary pedestrian barriers are put up to separate the players from everyone else. They are only there when the players use the walk. It crosses the main entrance plaza before you get to the spectator gate and ticket takers. It also crosses the concourse inside the stadium. When the pedestrian barriers are in place you can't get to the spectator gate, or if you are inside the stadium you can't get across. The barriers are up before the game to get the players on and off the field. and the same after the game. After the game the walk becomes "Autograph Alley." If players are not using the walk you can get across, but need to work your way through the cluster of fans to do so. Stadium Food - Local Sahlen's Hot Dogs - get the White Hot - many people think the flavor is better than red hots. Bill Gray's cheeseburger with the works - includes a spicy meat sauce. Abbots frozen custard (we think it is better than soft ice cream). Nancy's fried dough. Red Osier roast beef on weck (kimmelweck bun). I would not recommend this at the Stadium - buy it at DiBella's sandwich shops. Zebb's hamburgers. Saranac Beer, Molson Canadian Other: Coors light, Heineken, Twisted Tea and many more. You can get cocktails at at least one of the beer stands (under section 107). Ice cream Dots. Pizza, nachos, Buffalo Wings, and other normal stadium food. Other poster's please add, subtract, correct, or improve as needed.
I'm not sure if it was just the game I attended but there were $1 beers (Coors or Molson) up until the National Anthem. I had a lot of fun when I made the trip
CANamerican - That was a special deal - I think they did it twice this season. BTW I miss hearing Oh Canada before the games, like they used to do. I recommend next year they play the Mexican national anthem and Oh Canada every other home game, along with Star Spangled Banner, of course.
Stadium parking: Only time we were there was for the WNT games last Sep. My memory was that available parking mostly was on local streets and local private grass lots. Someone can confirm or not that. If so, plan accordingly.
RU Fan is correct. See the link for more Parking info. Bigger Photo below. http://www.rhinossoccer.com/stadium/directions/
Just read the USA today and saw that the championship game was between Wny and sky blue. Silly useless paper with wrong facts.
In terms of parking, if you don't mind walking, there's a lot down Oak by the baseball stadium that will also be available. It's actually for the Red Wings -- and yes they play that night and will probably have 10k+ and fireworks -- but obviously nothing stops you from parking there if there's space available. The Red Wings start at 7 though, so it may fill up if you plan to arrive late. Nonetheless, I've seen soccer fans leverage this parking. It's a bit of a walk, but not bad -- straight shot down Oak. And as long as we're not unlucky enough to have the baseball game end at the same time, it'll be easy out.
