We should have hired Hannan to do our real games and not just the internet streams. At least he's entertaining
Ray Hudson. That is all. ps: does anyone have a link to the highlights of the Fire/AC Milan 2005 match? His digs at Herron are classic.
Heavens is he terrible. Egan does him absolutely no favors, and is often just the same amount of homertastic drivel with an "expert accent". Less is more, guys.
Frankly I don't overly care whom broadcasts as long as I have some english announcers. I only need lineups after that I watch the game and ignore them.
Kevin is a bit too homer for my taste, but he's better than a lot of guys around the league. The other thing Dan seems to be learning is names. I have heard him make far fewer ID errors this season...
He's definitely too homer for me. I feel like I can't really trust any opinion he offers during a game because he can't be the least bit objective. I don't mind homer commentators if they're really good otherwise (Jack Edwards for example), but Egan is average.
Dan's a shitty hire??? Here we go again. Get ready for a rambling, defensive, whiny on-air rant. Ray Hudson. Coach/broadcaster.
Darrian was very good. God rest his soul. I wasn't in Jack's league. Say what you want (and you have), I will tell you this: it was never just a gig for me.
Don't hold your breath. A few years back I asked Kenn if he'd be interested and he made some ex-wife analogy that led me to believe his interest level was nil, zip, nada.
And he's told me via the old rep system to 'Tell your friends" a while back (about him and Wynalda manning the booth when I mentioned it). If I were him I wouldn't want to work with the current ownership. *wink* *nudge* *wink* I don't speak for him obviously and maybe he feels different now a days.
Since I'm here... I would have loved to have worked with Eric, just because it would have been entertaining. It probably would not have been a long-term situation, as I think Eric (bless his heart) has a shelf life with most people. I think I could have been a decent enough enabler/foil for him (the object in TV is for your analyst to shine anyway), but it's not like it would have been something that would have lasted a long time. And I have mentioned this to Eric before, but he's still working and I'm not. Godspeed. Whatever reasons I may or may not have had for coming back or not coming back were moot then (they fired me) and they're moot now (because I'm retired and there's nobody there anymore who has any idea who I am to begin with). I'm done. I don't do that anymore. Lastly, I never enjoyed working with someone as much as I enjoyed working with Kenny Stern. I had a lot of partners in my career, but Kenny was my favorite. When I was younger, I used to wonder how Pat Hughes could possibly work with Ron Santo, as idiosyncratic and non-traditional as Santo was. At some point, I came to recognize not only how he did it, but why he probably loved it. I did, too. Times change. We move on. It's a different club now, as I'm sure many of you recognize.
