Almighty! It's playoff time! Here's a reminder of the scoring procedure, along with a note on playoff ties. Here are the two semifinals you'll hopefully see clearly in your crystal balls: --Thorns @ Kansas, Saturday 1:00pm CT --Sky Blue @ Flash, Saturday 8:00pm ET Have at it!
Portland > KC - Someone commits a late foul on Fox or Sinclair. Odds are on Sesselmann. WNY > SB - The little forwards can't get done.
Hopefully not too late, just realized I didn't do this yet! Portland 3 - 2 Kansas City WNY 2 - 1 SBFC
Knew there had a been a lot of goals between the two sides all season. Just guessed on which would win.
Oh, right! Sorry, busy week, completely forgot about championship predictions. Yes, the intent was to continue using this thread. WNY 2-2 POR, WNY on PKs
Where are you guys getting these 3-2 predictions from? These teams averaged 1/2 GPG this year against each other. Both games were ties.
Both games were played at the end of 4 games in 10 day stretches for WNY, and Portland was on the end of a 5 games in 14 day stretch in the second match between the two. With both teams getting a week off between the semi and the final, offenses for both sides are going to be fresher, and therefore more effective.
Even more reason the high scores don't compute. In each case one team was clearly more tired. Shouldn't that have meant a clear win and more scoring for the other?
Give credit to the keepers for that, since both keepers had outstanding games in the two draws, but the stats show that the "fresher" team in each case had more scoring opportunities.
