The Chivas KKK racist clown show is now making news away from the sports section.. MLS needs to step in and clean house ASAP. This should not be tolerated.
What a surprise that this thread ended up with people posting pictures of lynchings. Thanks, Chivas! We owe you another one!
And how would you know???? Chivas' embrace of chauvinism, if not outright racism, is hate. Yes, it is. No, it is not murder. But if you're cool with Chelis attaching "KKK" to Wahl, of all people, then you have no basis for not being cool with that term being applied back to an organization which openly embraces a La Raza vision of the world.
dont defend what isnt there, that wasn't his intention in his racist comment which is as stupid as the comment that chelis made. Chivas is not racist it cant be quite simple.
Queue up the race v. ethnicity v. national origin education. Been at least a dozen pages. Comparing the KKK to anything having to do with a professional soccer team is about as dumb as bigsoccer gets.
Could people just use the word "discrimination" when then mean discrimination that doesn't have anything to do with race? Is that too much to ask?
I think he means they're not racist, they're ethnocentric. And I agree. Ethnocentric, but not racist. And stupid, very stupid.
I agree stupid to replicate a long history to another country. it doesn't work and while I find it humorous to have a feeder team it is stupid to think such tradition would be accepted in this day in age.
I wouldn't call it a feeder team. I'd call it a brand extension. A feeder team implies that there is some exporting of players happening.
Which I think is ultimately the problem. If it was a brand extension they'd do more to put a good product out there. If it's just a farm team to try and in theory develop players, the results well and truly don't matter at all, which fits with what we've seen lately.
How about Edmonton? Seriously, too bad for Chivas and their fans. Terrible the way they have been run, and a terrible concept to being with. And their policy IS discriminatory. Hope this gets resolved soon. Chivas, DC, and NE are really the only sore spots left now that SJ is under construction.
If only this saga was punctuated with a bit more levity... ...the dull witted purple people could better understand.
Honestly, I can't say I'm too surprised. MLS in '04 was an entirely different beast than what it is today. He is on owner with deep pockets (granted pockets that require a blowtorch and crowbar apparently...) and I'm sure Garber will give him many chances to burn him. Vergara may not know how to run a futbol/soccer club, but he didn't make all his money being stupid, I'm sure when he bought into the league the deal/contract was most likely filled with enough loop-holes and legal double talk to make ever the most honorable lawyer get a giant legal boner. I would seem that Vergara has burrowed himself deep into MLS and won't budge... unless the money's right. And that's what everyone needs to recognize, at some point the league will reach a stature in which someone will be willing to pay Vergara what he wants for the club, it's just a waiting game.
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ado-i-wont-let-anyone-else-come-and-take-my-p Jose Luis Real: "My job here isn't exactly to win matches." That's from the head coach of a Major League Soccer team. Incredible.
