I agree with the 27.0/28.0 scale being pretty reliable, but then adidas drops a clanger with something like the Copa/Profi that is listed as a 28.0 but not a 28.0.
Hey guys, I'm going to back to 2011 with Glide II, but I don't know does it have tight fit like Glide III or Victory IV ? I always wear 7 US/ 4o EUR but when I play with Victory IV my feet was hurt so bad. And how can I change lace with a huge lace cover in front of it ?
Hey guys, first time posting in this thread. Can I get some opinions on the Elastico Finale 2? Been hoping to get the hypervenom indoors but IMO they look pretty bad so I was thinking about getting whatever option that is closest to the hypervenom phantoms. I don't have overly-wide feet but I definitely don't have narrow feet so will I have problem fitting into them and will the nikeskin stretch? Thanks
Welcome to the forums mate, hope you'll have a good time. The Elastico Finale II's are not overly wide, but the NikeSKIN is so flexible and soft that it will fit even a wide foot. I have a colleague who's the same size as me (UK6, I know, tiny feet...) but has got insanely wide feet, and we have both worn the Phantoms and the Elasticos without any problems. In other words, the upper stretches and forms to your foot really well even though the last itself is somewhat slimmer than the Hypervenoms. In short: no, I don't think you'll have trouble fitting into the Elasticos. TBH they are also a far superior to the Hypervenoms as indoor shoes. Good luck with them
Thanks mate, that was really helpful. The nikeskin just looks really great and I would have gotten the hypervenom phantoms if I was still playing on pitch or turf. Really wish they would make the hypervenom indoors customizable with a nikeskin upper Anyway, I think I'll be getting the finale 2's, will get some pictures uploaded if I do get them
guys real quick question. Do you remember sizing of vapor II's and vapor K's in relation to legends? I could swear that vapor II's ran about a half size to full size small, not sure about the k's though
I never really found that. I'd say half a size at most but not in length only width. I wear a uk7.5/8 in vapors and the same in legends although sometimes I have rocked a 7 wide fit in them from ID
The Nikeskin upper on the Hypervenoms is much better than the upper on the Elastico IMO. The Elastico has more of a platic/cloth feel whereas the Hypervenoms I would best describe as rubber-like. Something to consider...
Can anyone tell the difference between having 1 layer of glass fiber vs. 2 on the forefoot of the Vapor IX? Any advantages of having the 2 layers? Thanks.
Just bought the blue Vapor AG's on Nike.com and the description says full 2 layers while everywhere else has 1 in the front and 2 in the back...will see when I get them.
Thanks for the info haven't had the chance to check out the hypervenom phantoms because they haven't been released in my country yet, there's only the phelon and phatal for now. I just think the hypervenom doesn't look good at all without the nikeskin, was rather disappointed when I found out the phelon and phatal was so much different lookwise compared to the phantom. I can imagine the phade being a lot different but in my history of buying nike boots the second and third takedown model wouldn't look this much different from the first. But then again I guess the nikeskin must be pretty expensive so they can't afford to use it on the lower models. Anyway, tried the finale 2's and they're pretty tight in the forefoot area, not sure I'll be able to wear them comfortably. Anyone can recommend a pair of decent nike indoor shoes? Thanks
So... I kept my Vapor 9s (well kinda). I went to a local soccer shop two weeks ago and they had them on sale for 50% off retail (so I paid~$150 after tax) so I picked them up. I originally bought the V9s for 30% off retail (Canadian MSRP for V9s is $270) from a big box sports store. They have a 90 day return policy so I just returned them. Breaking them in was (and still is) pretty painful. I'm getting a lot of heel blisters (I've never gotten blisters before from any soccer boot), which I think is because of the stiffness of the soleplate. But other than that, the comfort is very good (especially considering I have flat and somewhat wide feet). The Speed Control Teijing actually has quite a bit of stretch to it. The boots hug my foot so tightly (but in a good way) that when I wear other boots they feel kinda loose (hand in glove compared to hotdog down a hallway ). Toebox/forefoot and midfoot all fit great. Despite the blisters, I like a stiffer soleplate. Top marks for the V9 from me. I've also been wearing them on AG. If it's high quality, newer generation AG, it doesn't that feel bad. The front studs don't have any manoeuvrability once planted, but I don't really mind (yet... lol). The back studs don't feel unstable either, they plant in well (on HQ, newer AG). You may run into problems on LQ, older AG/turf though).
If you have time enough I recommend working the heel areas that are causing the blisters with your hands when you are relaxing. I would always make time to watch a movie or the tele with my vapors in hand and would fold, squeeze, mash, bend, and work the problem areas to speed the breaking in process and make the boot more pliable in general...especially the problem/blistering areas.
There are always two layers of glass fiber on all the Vapors. The reason for the midfoot part being darker from time to time and colourway to colourway is a purely aesthetical. I've been doing some diggin in regards to this subject, as I was confused myself, and got in contact with on of Nike's most tech-savvy guys in their European HQ. He told me that it was a common mistake and that people had been asking questions ever since the introduction of the Vapor VIII. What is throwing most people off is that Nike can do that glass fiber in two different colours; Silver Glass and Anthracite Glass, and depending on the color of the boot they'll use the two different options to give best overall look. This is the reason for some of the boots having a darker midfoot (Anthracite, which is a darker glass fiber) and lighter forefoot (Silver, which has a much lighter colour). In the Vapor IX, they've done the release colourways with just the Anthracite colour, but the Blue/Yellow/Pink one had the mixed colour soleplate. Hope it clears things up.

Found these R9's on the internet earlier, from back in the day when nike and adidas were pushing soccer specific trainers, at the Wayback Machine. it's a website that hosts archived versions of some websites from the late 90's to present. This image comes from an old soccer.com archive. http://web.archive.org/web/20000815055247/http://www.soccer.com/
Wow totally forgot about those. I'm pretty sure I had a pair but mine were silver/gray all over? I also don't know if mine had the R9 on the tongue or the zoom air.....
@cadmonkey12 man thanks for that link...its really taking me back. I found the those ones I had and I also had a pair of these bad boys:
