How many times does Cornell Glen need to get hammered in the 18 yd box? Nice to get that PK call late. Every single freaking time we take on Chicago never ever do we get any calls our way. How many times are these refs going to allow them to hack and dive? Jaqua nearly flattened Chris Leitch. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE! If Kevin Stott was the official he would be dealing more cards in this match than this ref would.

To hell with all the Fire Trolls who are going to come in our area. We deserved that break and we deserved to get a point tonight with the way our 2nd half was going. Metro deserved it once they gave up the Ralph goal. Jeff Parke hustles and man he was great going 1 V 1 on Ralph and steals the ball away from him.

Got to beat these bastards next week. Take them down.

If you guys were honest you would admit that was a bullsh_t PK call. The ball played the man. That was not an intentional handball. He had his arms down at his side. The defender jumped and the ball curved into his arm.

Actually, the defender tried to play the ball, just did a piss poor job of it. He jumped too early, and ended up glancing the ball of his head onto his arm, which was a little away from his body. A marginal call no doubt, but in the run of play, these things happen, and the Metros end up on the short end of those calls as much or more than anyone.

Referee was horrible. Metro fought hard. The draw was fair.
Walker had a busy night with saves and deserves MOTM. The subs
Megee/Voca changed the game. As much as I love Woly, I am bit disappointed on him lately: As a center/target forwarder, when the ball coming to him but the passing was off, too often he just watches the defenders took the ball away. I wish he could use more skills trying to get the ball back from defenders. I think this has something to do the level of ball skills and the speed. A little better ball skills and speed makes HUGE difference. I once said he is unpolished gem, and I still see him not showing his fullest potential yet.

I don't understand what more you expect out of Woly? The guy couldn't break A-League rosters before last season, and we are expecting better ball skills from him? A better ability to hold onto the ball? Of course not. What he brings is obvious. An incredibly high work rate. Stubborn as a mule, and will throw his body around. He gets rewarded with the occasional goal, which makes everyone all warm inside, and that's the story. For people to be dissapointed by his overall play is kind of nonsensical. We all know he isn't the best player, but he usually gets the result which is all that matters sometimes.

    Also, what happened to SGR?

Hang on, credit where credit is due - Wolyniec was the leading scorer in the A-League before he got here (at least that's what my fuzzy memory is telling me.) At any rate he did score the winning goal in the A-League championship game the season before he came back to the Metros - hardly the case of not being able to break a roster.

SGR was listed as injured and did not travel.

And if you were honest, you would admit that Brown clearly handled earlier in the game but no call was made. Though I hate to quote Mr. Shep Messing: "These things have a way of evening themselves out."

No, I know he played well with Milwaukee, but before that he couldn't start for the Rhinos I believe. I'm just saying that our expectations of him are blown way out of proportion. He's good for what he brings to the field, but lets not start expecting Woly to take on people. Which is exactly why I feel he is probably more suited for the last 30 minutes of a match. Really work hard against tired defenders, etc.

People are not born with ball skill, you get ball skill through hard training each every day. Woly has the drive, the size, good balance and reflax. All these makes a ideal target forward. Metro fans love him including me. I just hope he works on improving ball skill, he can be a fantastic stricker.

1.) Metros fought hard for 90 minutes. This has to be the first time in a long time that they didn't back down to the Fire. I think having some rest and playing once a week has helped them out a bit.

2.) Walker had a great game and looks like his old self again. He challenged everything and used his hands, not his foot skills.

3.) Pope messed up on the goal, but did have an alright game. If you rewind, Pope made a very nice stop just minutes before the goal. Should have have been 2-0 after Damani's goal. He also made that one really bad pass that was intended for Guevara but was intercepted. Guevara's little mover there was quite nice and reminded me of Cafu going all out on that one player. Parke is the next Pope. Anyone remember when he went one on one with a Fire player (can't remember who, but it was one of their faster players..I don't think it was Ralph, wasn't Beasley)? He was glued to the player the entire sprint, and won the challenge. Leitch did great... he works well with Parke and even made tat nice recovery when Parke tripped and cleared the ball. Ziadie wasn't spectacular or anything, but did his job. Gotta love that little dive he did to prevent the yellow card. He slaped the guy in the face and "trips" and hurts his ankle?

4.) Woly has no foot skills? Right before the Fire goal, he beat TWO defenders after that very nice pass that Gaven had with his head.

5.) Glen did a great job and fought hard. Could have scored if it weren't for the ref. I remember right after the half, he's at the corner with Curtin with Curtin boxing out like Shaq. Since when, can stick out your arm, grab the guy, and prevent him from, advancing?? The Glen gets called for the foul.

6.) I think Magee should work in the midfield from now on. He seems to do a very good job with the ball on is feet and isn't afraid to run around with it. This is very good to see in a guy that young. The Metros definately need to protect him in the draft.

7.) The ref was horrible. His only good call in the Metros favor was that PK. What is it with these refs? Why can't they ever call good calls for us, especially versus the Fire? Bradley was complaining to the sideline official after HT. I seriously think that Nick or Bob has to talk this over with MLS. C.J. Brown hacks away all game and when Glen decides to mix speed and strenght, it's a foul? Good to see that the Metros didn't back down from this and fought just as hard.

8.) The PK call: it's not the Metros fault that Andy Williams can't head the ball straight. Put your arms up if you can't head the ball correctly.

Of course, the ref missed the hand ball by Vaca near the midfield sideline during a battle with Beasely just a couple of minutes before the PK. . .both of their backs were turned to the ref, but it was right in front of me. Granted, it was not a handball in the box, but a proper call would have altered the flow of the match.

Regardless, garbage calls or non calls are part of the game. Every team has been the beneficiary and penalized by lousy calls by refs. It does tend to even out. . .however, that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for better refs or the League shouldn't review this given call and put it in this guy's "permanent record."

Metro Striker 10, I did not say Woly has no foot skill. Of course he does. I was saying I hope he elevates his skill to the next level to be a fantastic striker who graps every scoring chance. Currently there is a need for strike force in USMNT. Woly was already capped once. What a golden opportunity for Woly if he continue to improve himself!!

By the way, I agree all your points above. Every Metro worked their B. off yesterday. Did not back down after waves of attack. Hope they have a good rest before meeting Chicago next weekend.

I recall the Fire winning MLS Cup 3 due to bs refereeing. Did they give back the Cup?

what a frickin disaster- always a yellow card waiting to happen, modest defender and passer w/ little vision or confidence. here's a guy who knows he's in way over his head- A league at best. more than shocking that he's starting.

Did anyone mention taking away the goal? It was a BS call, but just one of many that the ref made against both teams. No one said the goal should be taken away. He just said that the ref should be held accountable, like any ref should for any bad call including the ones he missed against the Fire.

Like many have said, these things tend to even out over the long run. It sucks that this one cost us two points, but this might be a make up for a shi* call that cost you two points in the past. Just like a bad call might give us two points in the future. That's the way the game works. If the Fire had scored again that call wouldn't have mattered. THAT isn't the refs fault.

Lots of clipping and hacking, both teams realized the ref wasn't calling it. Chicago was also using it's size advantage to run over players from behind. Hell, basically Jaqua was trying to get a piggy back ride from Leitch.

Jeff Parke has been a great pickup: good speed and quickness. I agree he looked very impressive, especially on several occasions when he was one-on-one vs. Damani Ralph.

Please read the entire post prior to replying next time. Where did I say the result should be overturned last night? Like I said in the initial post - bad calls & non-calls are part of the game.

The hacking and cheap shot physical play has been evedent in all the Metros Fire games. It seems that the Fire have a rep of being physical, so the refs let them go. In the last game lil orphan annie was crashing into anyone within his sight and hardly got called for any of it
