Fuellkrug and Trybull( with a GoPro camera on his head) are back in training today according to Facebook. Get the rebound rolling.
That is faster than expected, but according to the Werder homepage they do individual training because the team will have its first training session this Friday.
Sweet, training camp starts Friday! I have to say, this board is very active and I'm glad to see everyone is as excited as I am about a fresh start...why, we almost have enough posters to take a poll
Will it be mandatory for all players to attend this camp or will others join in later? This is the first time I'll be paying any attention to the pre-season so I'm curious now.
They both along with Cimo sounded real confident about getting back out there and competing. Lots of hungry young players wanted to prove themselves to the new coach, is what I like to hear.
Will be an interesting pre-season. I have never known any coach other than TS, so I am excited to see how Dutt works. I am incredibly excited for the fresh start.
Werder II started into the league with a 0-1 loss at SV Meppen. Formation: 4-2-3-1 Otremba - Obst, Hüsing, Rehfeldt, Sternberg - Bruns, Fröde - Aycicek (64. Hernandez), Hilßner (58. Selke), von Haacke - Lorenzen (74. Kobylanski)
The U19 did better and started into the Bundesliga Nord/Ost with a 2-1 away win at Jena. Otis Breustedt (8.) and Florian Grillitsch (58.) scored for our green-whites. Formation: 4-3-3 Oelschlägel - Zander, Bockhorn, Eggestein, Grillitsch (86. Yigit)- Güthermann (90. Sahin), von Holt, Lercher - Eggersglüß, Breustedt, Gutmann The U17 played as well away in Jena (good for the travel costs ) and won 2-0.
Max Eggestein is a creative player, not a CB. Right winger according dfb.de The 2nd goal was scored by Johannes ''the century talent'' Eggestein on his debut. I imagine first of many at youth level. He will be playing against '97 born players while he is born in May '98. So far so good.
Thanks for clearing that up. I copied the line-up from kicker.de. They confused Max Eggestein position with Von Holts (who played CB) and also Grillitsch position with the one of Lercher.
He is on fire though Jena, Erfurt, St.Pauli and Lübeck are probably not the top sides of the U19 BL. 7 out of 12 points from these matches are average, but the league is still closed (Werder is two points behi. With the exception of VfL Wolfsburg, who hammer the opponents like last season. In our reserve Melvyn Lorenzen (18 years), who came this summer from Holstein Kiel had a good start into the season as well with 3 goals and one assist in 4 matches. So he does better in the men RL level than last season U19 BL. He only scored 7 times in 21 matches back then.
At least some of our other teams had a sucessful weekend. Regionalliga Nord: Werder Bremen II - Victoria Hamburg 4-0 Captain Florian Bruns (27. penalty) brought us in front, Selke (34.) scored before half-time. Hernandez (67.) and Schwede (73.) made it a comfortable 4-0 home win. Davie Selke plays strong, I hope he can continue his form and Dutt gives him a chance in the first team. U19 Bundesliga: Hamburger SV - Werder Bremen 2-3 HSV went in front by Lindenberg (12.), Grillitsch could equalize (25.), but Lindenberg brought HSV again in front (26.). Lingerski (30. penalty) equalized for the 2-2 half-time result. In the final minute Grillitsch (90.) decided the match for our green whites with his second goal.
Werders U19 advances to the cup quarter finals with a 1-0 away win at RW Erfurt (first round) and a 3-0 away win at Holstein Kiel (second round). In the league the team is on rank 6, 3 points behind rank 2 that must be reached to qualify for the play-offs. The U17 won 4-1 at St. Pauli and climbed to rank 3, one point behind HSV (2.) and two points behind Hertha, who played one more match than HSV and Werder.
Tom Trybull back from injury. Played his first game back last Friday with the reserves in the Regionalliga Nord. Really hoping he's able to stay healthy for the rest of the season. He's still quite young with much room for development.
The match next weekend is probably too early after his recovery, but we need to find a good DCM with Makiadi being injured. Bargfrede is also out, so Dutt field most likely either field Ekici and Kroos or change the system to 4-1-4-1 or something similar.
It would be great to have all of our DCMs back, and we can run the 6 by committee. Dutt could go with the hot hands of the week, and keep the midfield fresh. I would love to see Trybull get his time, since he has potential... just those feet bones man.
He's a decent rotation or sub player for the central midfield. Still think Trybull has a higher ceiling in terms of potential (if he stays healthy). Ole Käuper impressing with the U-17 team. Steady goal-scoring production so far, 5 goals thru first 4 games including two 2-goal performances. Looks like they've used him as both in AM and DM. Also a member of Germany's U-17 youth team, scored against Israel in their match back in Sept.
If Trybull can stay healthy he is the better option, but Kroos seems to have more confidence this year.
I think CM. Julian von Haacke (1994) has a good chance to make the senior team in a year or two if he continues his strong play in the Regionalliga. No longer associated with Bremen, but Johannes Wuertz scored the game winner for Paderborn today. 2 goals thru 4 games so far.
Kroos is hard to grasp as a player. When he's on, he seems to be REALLY ON. But he certainly doesn't bring that every game. Trybull is a somewhat safer choice since he has a consistency that Kroos doesn't have (yet), but, as has been said, Kroos has been much improved this season.
Cimo Röcker also back from injury. Made his season debut with the reserves in their 3-0 win today, coming on as a sub in the 2nd half. Trybull played the entire game. Cuban-German RW. Onel Hernandez had a strong game, scoring 2 goals. Him and Lorenzen (just promoted to the senior squad) appear to be the reserve team's top bright spots early this season. However, Marcel Hilßner has struggled at this level so far.
