It's a step forward in coverage, definitely not a step down. The 1990s model for soccer in America was tape delay ("no spoilers, you guys!1!") where you could watch matches all week and not have to worry about seeing the scores til you got World Soccer magazine three weeks later. Now, with even pretty basic subscriptions to DirecTV, Comcast, etc you can choose any of the Premier League's 10 matches live every weekend. On TV, your computer or mobile device. The step up from FOX is that it will cost a lot less to do this (NBCSN is largely basic cable, streaming + bonus channels gratis with a lot of subscriptions - FS2GO and FS+ were largely a la carte subscriptions).
Are these channels the Premier League extra time? I'm a bit confused. Does this new Premier League coverage mean I won't be able to watch as many Premier League matches as in the past? Are all matches live and non on delay to record and watch when I want? Shame if that's the case. I enjoy being able to watch as many matches as I want on a weekend, having them all on tape. Won't be possible if they are all broadcasted live and not back to back to back on delay.. Can someone clear this up?
Every game broadcast more than once, as was the case on FOX. 5 games live, only once, on the computer or extra channels is not an improvement. More accessible, yes. But not for someone who already had Fox Soccer, +, and ESPN last year. Thx, Jay!
With the ability to watch only one game at 10 and record one other, how do I watch the other three if they are not rebroadcast like they were across the FOX platform? Thx, Jay!
DirecTV has advertised that you can DVR five programs at once. How many people here watch four or more EPL games per weekend? The games I'm most likely to watch are Sunday at 11:00 A.M., Monday at 3:00 P.M., and Manchester United.
All your moronic friends at bein with the exception of Ross Dyer put up this exact idiotic show each time they get on the mic, so what is your gripe about?
I agree. I know there is a small minority of people who want to watch every minute of every game "on tape" but having access to every Premiership match live is just incredible. Most other soccer mad nations would kill to have that option. Also, with all of these NBC original shows available I personally don't need to watch every minute of every match "on tape": Premier League Goal Zone – A 30-minute program airing after the matches on Sunday with highlights of all the goals scored on Saturday and Sunday. Game Cut-Downs – On Monday nights, NBCSN will present a two-hour show featuring cut-down versions of the Manchester United and Manchester City matches. On Tuesdays, a two-hour program will feature the Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham matches. Match of the Day – A two-hour show featuring extended highlights with the natural calls of every game on Saturday. This show is modeled after the highly-regarded BBC show of the same name. Match of the Day will re-air on Sunday mornings. Match of the Day 2 – A 90-minute show featuring extended highlights with the natural calls of every game on Sunday. Match of the Week – On Sunday nights, NBCSN will re-air the best match of the weekend in its entirety.
How anyone can seriously complain about NBCSN's coverage (at least what it looks like it will be) of the EPL (along with MLS, NHL, IndyCar, and F1) is beyond me.
I'm just saying its not better than what we had last year. And less convenient. And what happens to these shows when F1 and the NHL are on? Fox Soccer was at least dedicated to soccer. Thx, Jay!
Soccer fans are indeed a strange bunch......all 10 EPL games live every weekend without additional subscription in most cases, and some folks are still complaining. Oh well, maybe in the future the league will sell its rights to Netflix so the hardcore viewers can download a 20-hour marathon of games
Anyone know whats happening with Comcast's coverage. Considering they are the ones who own the right then I'd expect to see Premier League Live Extra Time channels already on my lineup. Nothing. I don't want to go to DirecTV as a have a great promo with Comcast and don't want to sign a contract but I might have to if I can only watch Sunderland on my bloody iPad.
Comcast (unsurprisingly, since they own NBC) is confirmed for Extra Time. They're just lazier than DirecTV when it comes to setting up the channels. Should be in place next Saturday.
My concern is that they'll leave out my area. The cable system in the West Palm region is terrible, it's old Adelphia plant, not compatible with Motorola boxes so we're stuck with crappy Cisco or SA stuff. Means less bandwidth is available in this area and reduced features. So often we miss out. I know this as I worked for them here for a few years.
NBC Sports Network is still not on any spanish package on Directv yet. I still dont understand why? They just recently added NFL network so why the hell not NBC Sports?
