Braunschweig looked the better side for most of the match surprisingly... but Bremen got the points thats all that matters. Good work

I'll be surprised if Dutt doesn't get this team turned around at some point. He did great at Freiburg, Bayer 04 was a big step up from them. This team has a diverse blend of experience and youth, it may take several weeks but Werder will be ok this year.

What happened to Fullkrug by the way? He looked great whenever I watched him last year, now he's not starting

Niclas should get more playing time. I really hope Dutt gives him the chances he deserve.

He looked real last week in Saarbrucken, but good in the preseason. I think he will wiggle in there when Dutt and the team figure out their system.

Kroos was a tackling machine today, and Petersen was ohh... so close to at least two goals.

    Some thoughts on the match.

Prodl and Kroos had fantastic games on the defensive side of things.

Ekici I am really torn about. He looked dangerous running at defenders, and there is talent there. However, he kept the ball too long, and I don't think he made an effective pass all game. Hunt basically f-cked around in la-la land all game, and he slowed the play down when Werder should have had really good counter-attacking opportunities. (His performance lately has been a real bummer for me, especially since I've been his biggest defender on this board for years. Now, I just don't even know what's happening...)

Marks for the match (kreiszeitung.de: 1.0 world-class , 2.0 outstanding performance, 3.0 normal performance, 4.0 the player can play better, 5.0 the player should end his career):

Mielitz 2.5 - He deflected Reichels distance shot in minute 62 to the bar. At the scene at towards the end of the match, in which Caldirola made to save on the line, he did not look good, but besides this scene he showed a good performance.

Caldirola 3.0 - He showed some insecurities, but a much better performance compared to the cup. His save on the line towards the end of the match makes him one the match hereos.

Fritz 4.0 - No major liabilities in defense, but also without offensive contributions.

Prödl 3.5 -Did he want to make this pass or was it simply luck. It does not matter, the pass was the foundation of the win. Sadly he showed defensively no good performance and could only win 38% of tacklings.

Gebre Selassie 4.0 - He did his best, but it was not enough to predict him a great future as left back.

Makiadi 4.0 - He is supposed to be Werders new leader, but was only one of many.

Kroos 4.0 - In some situations shaky, but overall disciplined.

Junuzovic 3.0 - He showed no nerves when scoring the winning goal. Additionally he worked much for the team.

Ekici 3.5 - He played as a left offensive midfielder and initiated most offensive scenes. Sadly his efficiency was not the best. His substitution suprised the spectators and he was also pissed about it.

Petersen 4.0 - Brought himself into good scoring situations, but missed 2 sitters. He works for the team, but must manage to get back his goal instinct.

Hunt 4.0 - He should use Eintrachts weak points, but could not do it. In some parts of the match he showed too less spirit.

Without marks - subbed in players:

Elia (62.): He came for Ekici, but could not help Werder. Instead he created some tricky situations for his own teams with some bad passes.

Yildirim (81.): He could not contributed, except celebrating the 1-0 with his teammates.

Lukimya (85.): He came in to secure the lead.

    ---
I saw Kroos and Makiadi a bit better and Hunt a bit worse. But overall I can live with the marks.
