You better win down there because Olimpia likely will. BTW, good job taking care of business. G'Luck in Tegu.
No kidding. One of the great thrill rides in the world. I think Travel channel had it ranked in the top-5 of scariest most extreme airports in the World.
"Just when you think you've finally run out of things to be scared of, we present WORLD'S SCARIEST RUNWAYS!!! Take off for fear on WORLD'S SCARIEST RUNWAYS! Flying is perfectly safe, but it's the landing that's a killer!" God, I hate television nowadays. /get off my goddamn lawn

So I'm a bit bored this evening, so I've been digging through old records, Cup Winners Cup, Copa Merconorte, Champions Cup and Champions League. I have found 26 (updated) games where MLS teams have won on the road, and a 28th where they won a PK shootout after a regulation tie (and aggregate tie). - 2001 Giants Cup JAM Apr 4 DC United 3-0 Arnett Gardens (Quarterfinal, 1st Leg) - 2001 Copa Merconorte ECU Aug 29 Kansas City 3-2 Barcelona (Group C) - 2002 Champions Cup TRI Feb 3 Kansas City 1-0 W Connection (Knockout Round, 1st Leg) GUA Feb 3 Chicago 1-0 Municipal (Knockout Round, 1st Leg) - 2005 Champions Cup JAM Mar 16 DC United 2-1 Harbor View (Quarterfinal, 2nd Leg) - 2007 Champions Cup HON Feb 21 DC United 3-2 Olimpia (Quarterfinal, 2nd Leg) - 2009-10 Champions League PKs SLV Jul 28 DC United 1-1 (5-4) Luis Angel Firpo (Preliminary Round, 2nd Leg, Penalty Shootout) TRI Sep 15 DC United 1-0 San Juan Jabloteh (Group B) CRC Sep 16 Columbus 1-0 Saprissa (Group C) - 2010-11 Champions League PUR Aug 4 Los Angeles 2-1 Puerto Rico Islanders (Preliminary Round, 2nd Leg) PAN Sep 22 Salt Lake 3-2 Arabe Unido (Group A) TRI Oct 21 Columbus 4-1 Joe Public (Group B) - 2011-12 Champions League SLV Jul 28 Dallas 1-0 Alianza (Preliminary Round, 1st Leg) NCA Aug 2 Toronto 2-1 Real Esteli (Preliminary Round, 2nd Leg) MEX Aug 17 Dallas 1-0 UNAM (Group C) PAN Aug 18 Toronto 2-1 Tauro (Group C) MEX Aug 23 Seattle 1-0 Monterrey (Group D) HON Sep 14 Seattle 2-1 Herediano (Group D) SLV Sep 28 Colorado 3-1 Isidro Metapan (Group B) HON Oct 20 Los Angeles 1-0 Motagua (Group A) - 2012-13 Champions League SLV Aug 22 Houston 1-0 FAS (Group 3) TRI Aug 30 Seattle 3-1 Caledonia AIA (Group 4) PAN Sep 18 Salt Lake 1-0 Tauro (Group 2) HON Sep 19 Seattle 3-2 Marathon (Group 4) SLV Sep 25 Toronto 3-0 Aguila (Group 1) SLV Oct 25 Los Angeles 3-2 Isidro Metapan (Group 5) - 2013-14 Champions League NCA Aug 7 Kansas City 2-0 Real Esteli (Group 2) Too be to fair the the original clubs, the increase in wins abroad isn't solely due to MLS teams getting better (they have), but MLS teams playing competitive games outside the U.S. was a rarity in the early days. The Cup Winners Cup was usually abandoned, The Champions Cup (at the point MLS clubs joined in) was held at a single location (RFK Stadium twice, Las Vegas, Los Angeles area). The 2001 Copa Merconorte was the first bulk of games, with the MetroStars and Wizards playing 5 games on the road - winning 1. MLS team victories 4 - DC United, Seattle 3 - Kansas City, Los Angeles, Toronto 2 - Columbus, Dallas, Salt Lake 1 - Chicago, Colorado, Houston MLS victims 5 - El Salvador 4 - Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago 3 - Panama 2 - Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua 1 - Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico I'll leave the reverse list (MLS teams that have lost at home) to someone looking to beat up on the league (Ole Someone, perhaps?) Some interesting data. Toronto with 3 wins, only one win in Guatemala, The win in Puerto Rico coming a week after they had demolished LA in LA. The two original cities still waiting for their first win are New England (who have played at least 2 "home" legs outside the U.S.) and New York. San Jose, apparently, is also on this list. EDIT: removed a neutral site game played in the U.S.
I'm still in disbelief that the Red Bulls tied W Connection away that year. I know that team was awful, but come on. Also, 2-2 in San Salvador. Metapan with its first intentional goal of the night.
FT - Metapan 2-4 Cartagines FT - Arabe Unido 3-1 W Connection Those are Panama's first points in this tournament since Tauro beat Dallas on September 28, 2011.
Interesting fact: when Cartagines won the 1994 Champions Cup (final four at Spartan Stadium, San Jose CA - any Quakes fans attend?) there was another LA team participating in the competition. The one and only Los Angeles Salsa. How bad could it possibly get against Cruz Azul? Don't answer that Seattle fans.
