MLS would force them to sell because they stand to make a profit and MLS is backwards and crooked. They would rather him leave early on a transfer fee than later on a freebie. And I'm sure they're getting all kinds of complaints from NY and Chivas too. What will probably end up happening is that MLS, Chivas, NY, and NE will all sit down and agree on a fair way to split the profits. If he's going to leave at the end of the season anyway and NE is still in rebuilding mode (they are) then it doesn't make any sense to let him see out his contract. Especially considering his injury problems as well.
Around the same. http://us.soccerway.com/national/japan/j1-league/2013/regular-season/r20122/ Go to the table and click attendance.
If they can spend 6 Mil on Dempsey they could afford paying him better than the average and he will satay...
Remember that if Ream come back he will be going to the best bidder not to necessarily to RBNY, because the RBNY get his ransom for him, they sale him out and now he can go to any team he pleases and to who ever pay him better....
No, we will have some, but not to much, because Stoke will not take the risk to wait until he is free, because some another team can get him instead, so they will offer some money to the MLS for him, but like I say no to much, since the MLS too will not wait until Agudelo get free and they will not get anything at all and they will accept any offer from part of any team before that happen.....
Ugh. We could have had Dempsey. Are you kidding me? http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/redbulls2.php?article_id=34471
Dempsey would have done more to get people to Red Bull Arena than just about anybody. Seems strange that RBNY wouldn't have at least shown more interest in an exploratory fashion.
No offense to Kristian Dyer, but until he has more than a single anonymous source then I'm more inclined to believe Grant Wahl's well cited article saying that Dempsey only considered LA, Seattle, or Toronto. If it is true though, I guess Red Bull has their spending limits after all considering Dempsey will be paid almost as much as Henry and Cahill combined. Would have been so great to have him, I think he would have helped us attendance-wise more than most other clubs
no its because Petke they want the 3rd DP to be a bit younger and at a better price point. Dempsey would have helped but not mad he is not with us. We can do better I think
http://www.metrofanatic.com/frame/i...ort.com/366829-yossi-benayoun-eyes-mls-switch Ehhhhhhh. Not unless the Cahill thing is more serious than they're letting on. OR he's fine being a part time player...which I seriously doubt.
Getting a little late in the day, can we assume that the signing Roxburgh mentioned is out of contract somewhere?
Given that they have spent a ton of money with very little to show for it on and off the field*, the Mothership has not been spending indiscriminately with regard to RBNY. So it does not surprise me that they didn't throw 17 million at Dempsey. *We can argue all we want about misallocation of said resources and what they actually were to show for it, but the checkbook is not as open as it once was according to Roxborough and Petke and there isn't even a marketing budget for splashes this year.
Apparently. http://www.newyorkredbulls.com/news/2013/08/red-bulls-sign-australian-international-david-carney
While not surprised Austria didn't go for this (assuming it's true), I think this should have been a no-brainer. It's the biggest US soccer story in years. Great publicity. Great player. Credit Seattle's ownership for not even blinking.
I'd like to think that if we were only paying our two DP's a combined $1.8 mil instead of $7.5 mil that we wouldn't have blinked (blunk? blank?) either.
Don't have you been telling me several times that they only cost 350K.... and not the Millions that I have been saying?......
Yep, if we're talking about competition between teams, then all that matters is the cap hit. Paying somebody $4 million doesn't stop us from signing other players any more than paying somebody $350k What I also say is that whatever the owners want to pay past the $350k, that's on them and shouldn't be a concern of the fans. That doesn't mean I can't be understanding that Red Bull wants to apply at least some restraint to their spending.
