We are fans, not the heads of football/soccer federations. I'm pretty sure Sunil Gulati maintained his composure in public settings.

I don't doubt Gulati's professionalism compared to this guy.

Fans here were upset about Rossi, yes, but I don't think anyone alleged that what he did was illegal, as the Iceland's freakin' FA has apparently claimed.

But was Sunil doing interviews in Italy crying about the situation?

The word here in Iceland one of respect of Arons decision and also of a small pride that an Icelander could be playing at the world cup next year. The majority of the public are very critial of the Icelandic FA atm regarding the weird statement. And also it has to be said that Aron would have been behind the likes of Alfred Finnbogason who scored two goals and had two assists for Heerenveen against AZ Alkmaar at the weekend and got player of the week award, and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson at Ajax, in the national team. The one Icelanders are really waiting for to blossom in the future is Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson at Wolves, he has it all and could be a huge player in the future:
We also have Gunnar Heidar Thorvaldsson who has just been sold to a Turkish Premier League side. Ajax also recently signed 16 yr old striker Ottar Magnus Karlsson who is very highly rated.

I am looking forward to see Aron in action for the USA, whom I have a little crush on at the moment.

Glad to see the rise of Icelandic football. I think when most Americans think of Iceland, they don't think of football. They think of geysers

Well, the youth coaching is very professional here and also the indoor halls which have been built have totally revolutionalized the game here. Instead of training in snow at winter the players get to train inside. Now he we have young players all over Europe. The first reap of this was when the U21 side reached the U21 european finals in 2011, and finished 4th. In qualifying they beat Germany 4-1 and 5 players in that German team started for Dortmund against Bayern in CL final in May. They also beat England 2-1 away. Now we have youth players at Juventus, Ajax, PSV, in Germany, England, Belgium and Scandinavia and in more places. There is a belief that we are slowly building something here, so I guess that is one reason why some are taking the Aron case this hard.

Icelands greatest ever player, Asgeir Sigurvinsson, who played for Bayern and Stuttgart in the eighties is an interesting example. He was the best player in the German Bundesliga and led Stuttgart to the national title. He was the complete number 10. Franz Beckenbeuer said in his opinion he was one of the best players in the world at the time. He suggested he should switch sides to play for Germany and you can see what Sigurvinsson said in the end of this clip regarding that:

Eidur Gudjohnsen who is certainly in the top 5 of the best Icelandic players of all time, having played for Chelsea and Barcelona was asked to play for Belgian youth sides as he was born in Belgium but he declined.

That is all good to hear... with all the players Iceland is developing I'm sure they will be just fine without him.

I think he means full field facilities as well. But I sure they play futsal, 5 a side and other soccer related games too.

Hmmm I always thought Gudjohnsen was the best player Iceland ever produced. Gotta give it to them. They're producing some really good talent at offense considering their size. Finland is like 12 times larger and doesn't even have that talent.

Maybe we can send them a keeper...seems like they're a bit lacking on defense?
