He's having a pretty horrible game so far. Bad passes. Touches are too heavy. Some ill-advised challenges, too. So far a very sloppy game on both sides.
Have the Gals been dominating possession like this all night or just the few times I've paid attention?
Freaking MLS knows too many ways to contact me. Seriously, MLS, if you can contact me in all these different ways, don't you think I'm the kind of MLS fan that already knows about this damn Dempsey signing?
I like this email I received from World Soccer Shop about a minute after Dempsey took his hoodie off at the CLink: BREAKING NEWS! Clint Dempsey Seattle Sounders jerseys are now available! MLSSoccer.com was five minutes late in comparison.
I'm watching all this hoopla and thinking: we just got done with that damn Beckham circus, and now this?!?
The Dempsey signing actually felt more insane to me than the Beckham signing, which i'd been telling anyone who would listen would happen for 12 months before it did. Still came a year earlier than I expected, but still... Dempsey signing rocked my socks off yesterday.
Win or lose for seattle against dallas doesn't matter to me they are winners no matter the result with the Dempsey move.
I think it had more to do with the specific player than the general level of signing, but I still agree. Dempsey, of all guys, just felt like the least likely to come back now after talking all the mess he had about champions league etc.
This is a start. As team owners start to open their checkbook the more the league becomes a force during the international transfer window. This move by seattle will benefit them long term long after dempsey retires.
