Its unfortunate Monaco couldn't keep him however its great that he went to PSG and not to teams like Juventus, Manchester United or Barcelona. I think with him and depending on who PSG get for a striker they can make a deep run in the Champions League next year and obviously I think they are the favorites to win the league.

    Is Pauleta leaving PSG ?

Are they bringing anybody else in the midfield ? or do we have to contend with Boskovic as the "meneur de jeu" ?

Pauleta will be back I'd say. They'll probablly bring in another striker to partner with him and another midfielder.

Its nice to see a French player actually want to stay in France. Good for Jerome and PSG.

Now I hope this will not hurt his chances of starting for the national team. A player may be picked over him just because he plays in the EPL or La Liga. Boumsong was better than a few guys who started in Euro 2004 but because Boumsong is young and plays in Ligue 1 the manager picked the veterans over him which was a mistake. I hope Rothen will get to start for France and not be penalized because he plays in Ligue 1. I hope the new manager will realize this.

This le signing made me very happy, Rothen has shown to be le fantastic France player who can easily leave his mark on not only le PSG, mais le national team Français as well.

It's always refreshing to see a French star stay in Ligue 1. I was never a fan of Coupet, but when I heard that, he won me over. I like homecomings. Like Barthez and the such.

WOW! Rothen from Monaco to PSG.....still in Ligue 1. Simply amazing. Very good move for PSG. I'm surprised a big club didn't pick him up in EPL, La Liga, or Serie A.

I'm sure an EPL, Serie A or La Liga team would have picked him up under normal circumstances but you have to remember that Rothen is from and grew up in Paris and PSG was the club he idolized as a boy so if he was given the chance to play for them he was not gonna pass up that oppertunity.

Thanks. We don't get much information in regarding this in St. Louis. I am unable to read French so the website doesn't necessarily help.

    Re: Ibisevic

Doesn't really say much about him but I thought I'd share it, anyway.

    PSG.fr -.

PSG: What do you think of Ibisevic's coming into the game?
Fiorèse: I can't really judge him since I'm not a coach. What is certain, is that he has some qualities. Now, it's necessary to see him over the long term. But if the coach had him come it's not to make him happy, but because he believes in him.

Even though Portugal got to the final Pauleta wasn't really such an asset on the field.Besides, if he had shown his REAL talent and skill on the field he would definitely leave Bordeaux but since his really ordinary showing, I don't think any club in their right mind would bid for him.

He is a very good player but the showing he gave at Euro 04 killed off any interest that was in him for this summer,at least. All he needs is another great Ligue 1 season with many goals and he will be again another targeted striker.

Any word on Vedad coming out of camp??? What is the scoop. We are left in the dark wondering whether or not he is going to sign a professional contract.

Le Parisien (a french news paper) say yesterday that Vedad Ibisevic will probably soon sign a professional contract for 3 or 4 years.

Word around town is that he signed a 2 year deal worth 5 million. Any truth?

Can't wait to see Rothen in action. Can't remeber us having a decent left-winger since Robert left. If he can do for us what he did for Monaco in champions league. :)

i agree. i know it is not feasible in most cases, but i wish more players would play in their country.

    "Vedad Ibisevic"

He signed a six month contract. Until Paolo Cesar comes back from loan. He will probably sign a new contract in December if PC is sold : we need to clear an "extra-communautaire" spot !

so why did stories come out about the 3yr deal then?

From what I understand, he has signed 3yrs, but he has only received a 6 month playing license. I gather there is a difference between being granted a license to play in the league (by the commision) and then the contract (which the club gives out). PSG loaned a player, and when he comes back in six months, PSG will have too many players that are not from France (breaking the rule), so that is the issue. So they have six months now to rectify the problem. Since they did sign him (to whatever..from the stories, its 3yrs) they must have an idea of what step they will take.

    So I'm kind of confused...
