Peter Schaad is siting a "trusted" source and is saying its just north of 50 million dollars" He is saying that Hunts said they were not taking less 50 million.
How do Crew fans feel about this? As a Galaxy fan, I was delighted with the new logo when the LAG changed the shield. Personally, I think the Crew shield should be tweaked, but keep the feel of the original.
a refreshing trend in mls is the disappearance of a 60-90 day announcement of this announcement. lets starting giving credit where credit is due. good job don.
I understand what you are saying, but that $50 million INCLUDES the stadium as I understand this sale. That would put the valuation of the Crew itself at less than $50. Significantly less actually. Also, like I said, I'm no accountant, so I'm not sure how the stadium and the team are parsed out traditionally in deals like this.
This makes me very nervous--the construction guys crest has received hate over the years, but it has grown on me. It has been there since 96 and with trophies behind it it also has tradition. It is quite simply an MLS classic at this point and should not be messed with. If they do change the badge i hope it is only to tweak it, but keep the construction guy theme. Like this:
Yes and no. Every indication is stadium is included but the recent Houston negotiations are the only measuring stick and no sale went through. Frankly in this case Crew stadium is worth very little in this deal and may be more of a liability versus a team with a good lease. He is likely going to put hundreds of thousands into the building if it remains, they receive no parking revenue, and have an odd concession agreement. If they tried to sell the stadium independently as an example, you probably would have no takers under the current land lease deal (land not part of stadium in this case). So I would guess teams worth is about what sale value was.
Crew Stadium does get a sliding percentage of the parking revenue, but the fairgrounds controls the parking lots and the pricing. Also, the stadium has value because it is a profitable enterprise. Even if the argument is that the stadium itself doesn't have resale value, it is a profit-producing asset.
On the current balance sheet yes. but from an ROI perspective it will require a substantial upgrade in the near term which would kill the sales value of the stadium. If you figure it makes 200k bottom line profit per year (not revenue) but will require 200k to be spent in upgrades....its 800 grand over five years. So maybe it goes for 4-5 times profit which is 800k to a million. even if it clears 600k per year your still only talking three million tops. This is one of the reasons teams want public money to build stadiums....your ROI is so long and assumes the interest is covered by premium seating salex of the primary Tenant
Sigh. I knew it was a matter of time before this abortion of a logo popped up in this thread. The Crew logo stays as is. You got that??!
Love the Crew Logo, though I also wouldn't mind the "the" being replaced with "Columbus". MLS is a unique league, unlike any in the world. The history of the crew is an essential part of that identity. If they have the will to keep it it will only gain stature in the years to come.
I don't think it's better at all. Because when's i think of soccer, I think burly guys... The crew logo is a great logo and been there since the inception. They shouldn't stray too far from the original.
