GolTV still has Brazil and Argentina as well, so I am pretty happy with the channel. but I am stuck in an complex where the only cable/satellite option is RCN - which means no BeIn. I might subscribe to RAI which broadcast a few Serie A games per weekend last year, if RAI is still doing the same this year.
I know but Im thinking in an ideal world. Feel like we are getting close to that though with the wide range of European leagues on offer this coming season.
I am stuck with cable, and most systems have dropped GolTV. Unless GolTV dies, I will not be seeing my favorite league on TV until 2015.
I've seen multiple answers to this question with mixed answers...and even the DirectTV people do not seem to know.... Someone who has DirectTV....what is the least expensive way for me to add GolTV to my DirectTV service? I want to keep my 'primary' package of channels English. Somebody please help me figure out a way to watch the BL please...
http://www.directv.com/international/en_espanol "En Espanyol" is $14.99 per month and it includes GOL-TV, ESPN Deportes, Fox Deportes, Univision, Unimas, TyCSports, Ecuavision Tv (Ecuador), TV Colombia, TV Chile. The good news is that all of the above channels show plenty of soccer. The bad news is that they are all in SD (no HD). En Espanyol channels are located on a separate satellite so don't be surprised if DTV tells you you need an addition to your existing dish (an extra LNB) or a completely new dish altogether. Unimas is in HD actually, but the rest you are correct... are not in HD. Really need to get ESPN Deportes and Fox Deportes in HD....
And, it's not just an additional LNB. You will very likely need an additional dish, because the international stuff is on a satellite that is in a totally different orbital slot. That means two dishes, which makes it a very undesirable option for many folks.
Nah, its all being done on a single dish these days. The Spanish channels are in the 119 degree orbital slot (compared to 101 degree spot used for main programming). You may need to upgrade the dish itself and even the receiver (if its not 3rd generation +). But generally, if its newer equipment, just an additional lnb and a new switchbox to handle the additional cable(s). SA
also with this you will get almost every Liga MX match - most in HD. Every match last wekend was on - Friday - Saturday - Sunday
In non-technical terms, "the thing that points towards the dish". It captures the satellite signal bouncing off the dish and sends that (digital) signal to your receiver. Low-noise block downconverter. SA
My question regarding GOLTV is if they have any legal recourse to their being dropped from so many providers. I am aware that cable and satellite providers have dropped stations claiming either low viewership or inability to reach a carriage deal, as well as the recent legal decision where Comcast prevailed over the Tennis Channel's lawsuit (claiming the cable company gave preference to their own stations while placing TC on a tier with less viewership). However, in the case of GolTV, I cannot remember a situation where as a new contender (beIN) was added and. in every single case, the same station (GolTV) was removed. When beIN was reportedly throwing money to providers to gain carriage, I would hope that there was no demand by them to have a specific competitor removed, nor any collusion by the cable/sat companies to target a single programmer.
In my market Comcast only had gol TV in Spanish. When they dumped it they actually picked up not only Bein, but also Latin American Sports Network which is baseball heavy although they do have some Liga de Ascenso matches. I can't imagine that Dominican baseball is getting better ratings than Gold's offerings.
I had GolTV via a Comcast "sportpack" years ago in NJ (I've been with FIOS for years now) and the audio was available both in English and Spanish, and my mom in South Florida received GOLTV in English until beIN came in to replace it this year (although she does not get beIN since it requires a higher tier or a sports/entertainment pack that GOLTV did not). A few years back though, she only got GOLTV in Spanish on Comcast. The situation with FIOS regarding GolTV is a strange one. Following the addition of beIN, which is available on the Ultimate package or what they call the "SportsPass", they removed GOLTV English from the Ultimate customers, with it remaining only to those who had subscribed to a ""Sportspack" (which, I think, was only created in the NY-NJ metropolitan area). Thus, they removed GolTv English from most of their customers who had been receiving it, and left it to the relatively few who had been subscribed to the sportspack (without much notice at the start of the summer, so if one cancelled the sportspack at the end of the soccer club season, they could no longer get it back.
Time Warner in my area (NC) has Gol TV in English in HD in their sportspack along with FSC Plus and BEIN, also both in HD. Probably the best all around value I have seen for soccer fans.
