You must not have followed the KC Wizards stadium deal... it takes more!

So there are plans for them to offer 6 oz. cups?

Why would they announce this deal when there are two other landholders, one of whom is a venture capitalist, that still have to sell their lots? Seems like bad business to me, the outsider.

They're either stupid or already have agreements.

Or this is the last chance saloon and they are hoping it fosters additional pressure to get the deal done. I kind of don't want to think about what happens if this doesn't pass.

They won't even break ground until the City Council gets them to agree to pay everyone who works in the stadium a minimum of $30 an hour.

The DC United fan in me considers this one of the most exciting days in club history. The DC United fan in me also feels the disappointment coming from the future news that the deal has been called off.

Something tells me that if you closely compare those renderings to the previous ones for Poplar and PG you'll find some of the same cgi people in both.

Somewhere tonight an intern is calling their mom.

That's only if the stadium capacity is above 20,000.

On my score card as of this moment the owners get an 85 out of 100, front office gets a 57, players get a 38, trainers get a 19 and the coaches get a 2. People who complain about the owners not doing enough get a -10.

If any of this is true it's happening way faster than I ever anticipated. My best case scenario was 2-3 years minimum. This would be a huge feather in their cap to get this far is basically 1 year.

They've been promising it this summer. I'm thrilled they've kept their word, but it does seem like there's still some heavy lifting ahead. I've read that they're looking at 2016. I really thought that they'd be able to get it open y 2015, but I guess this reflects that they're not nearly ready to start digging. Still....

...still, at this pace we'll have our new place before newcomer NYCFC will get their new home.

I'm cautiously optimistic. We never had the Mayor (any of them) make a speech about the subject. It has always gone through speaking-heads and other channels of info. So I'm feeling good. Hurdles? Yes, but this is major movement forward.

I'm less skeptical than I thought I would be about this. I'm sure there are quite a few of you who know city council. Hopefully someone could post their thoughts...

...Which ought to be part of the equation in the decision to build at 20k or 25k. There will be rivalry games galore, with Philly, NJRB, and NYCFC. Plus, DP-stocked LA coming out every 2 years. I'm betting they could sell more than 20k for those games. That's 17 games over 3 years. That's the equivalent of a year's home schedule already. Throw in some CCL play, maybe against Alianza or Metapan, Marathon or Olimpia? Plus, playoff games? Dream big, guys. Dream big. You can always tarp over one section, making the tickets available only for the bigger draws. 5,000 x 22 = 100,000 x (avg $40/ticket + avg $40 in concessions) - $8 million additional revenue every 3 years, just for those games. If they can sell the other 5k for 6 more games every 3 years, you're over $10 million every 3 years. That ought to pay off quickly.
