Stony Brook: http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/071713aaa.html A few local kids, and a bunch of internationals.
The wicked smaht kids headin' to Harvard. BTW, I love how the release points out in their bios that the players were in the National Honor Society. Dude, it's frikkin' Harvard. The NHS is pretty much a given for all the kids there. http://www.gocrimson.com/sports/msoc/2013-14/releases/SOM130718FreshmanRelease
So UC Irvine has apparently decided that if it's going to be embarrassingly late in announcing its recruits that it'll make up for it using the "one release per player" method that some schools have tried in recent years. Here's the first. I won't be going back to look for the others but maybe someone else will be inclined to do so. http://www.ucirvinesports.com/sports/m-soccer/2013-14/releases/201307220h19pk
According to a post on the Yanks Abroad forum, UNC has lot this kid before he even matriculated as he has signed in England for Peterborough United. EDIT: here's a link: 'Yep, just waiting for clearance on it all but he has agreed terms etc. Promising one as well!!' Better (but not much) than later comes East Tennessee State. http://www.etsubucs.com/msoccer/news/2013-14/9799/etsu-mens-soccer-announces-2013-recruiting-class/
UNCW adds a GK who was recently highlighted as one of the best prospects at the DA finals. http://www.uncwsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=19800&ATCLID=208820360
Good catch. Here's a video interview of him with some highlights, brought to you be EA Sports. This video comes really close to being an NCAA violation as it seems to be almost serve as the kid endorsing the product. (I doubt the NCAA will zap him for it, but you never know.) http://www.whitecapsfc.com/video/2012/07/13/sean-melvin-ea-sports-one-watch
Valparaiso adds 2 more - A real big Jamaican GK, and yes, of course, a transfer from SMU. http://www.valpoathletics.com/msoccer/news/2013-14/12812/mens-soccer-adds-two-more-players/
Yale announces Class of 2017, six member class, includes two foreign players, one from Germany and one from Sweden. Two from PDA and Two from Massachusetts. http://www.yalebulldogs.com/sports/m-soccer/2013-14/releases/20130730uap560
BC finally announces (first time in a while) their Class of 2017. A nine member class, including 4 transfers, and 5 internationals, 3 member of YNTs. http://www.bceagles.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/073013aaa.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amit_Shumovich It's bad enough that the NCAA lets 21-year-old foreigners come in and compete as freshmen, but this one made ten appearances for Maccabi Netanya in Israel's Premier League last season. How on earth is he even eligible?
Ed Kelly, I think, just doesn't really care, and probably figures if the NCAA makes an inquiry, he will just say he didn't know. And its not like the NCAA gives two shits about men's soccer anyways.
Tim McClements and SMU finally decide to give a fu(k. http://www.smumustangs.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/073013aaa.html Interestingly, Alfred Koroma is not among the announced new players. Also interesting, at least to me, that Mike Jeffries would send his kid there.
In fairness, of all their internationals, only one is really recruited from outside the US. Frano (Canada) is a transfer from the Montavelo. Lewis (Bermuda) went to prep school in MA. Normesinu (Ghana) went to prep school in CT. Sandgren (Sweden) is a transfer from Lindsey Wilson. Zaid (Guatemala) is a US citizen who spent time at Bradenton. So the Israeli pro player is the only player recruited from abroad. I will now go take a shower because of having defended Apathetic Ed Kelly.
Alfred Koroma isn't listed on the 2013 roster, but neither is any of the incoming freshman, I wonder what is up with that kid.
I am just amazed he could get a transfer in from Lindsey Wilson, that must have been a knock down drag out fight in admissions, I don't even think that school is accredited.
NIU, the latest to stock up on a few foreigners http://www.niutoday.info/2013/07/31/hat-trick-mens-soccer-adds-three-to-2013-class/
Apparently the transfer train can go both ways at SMU as they announce 5 of them. http://www.smumustangs.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/080213aaa.html Koroma is probably the biggest name but Jacob Speed might have a bigger impact.
