I guess being the best player against Houston means nothing. He completed 9 of his 10 passes and sprung Le Toux a few times. No one else completed more than 25 passes. If you are basing his career off a friendly where he played with children and backups, I think you have an awfully clear agenda. He completed 9 out of 10 passes. When has your boy Cruz ever completed such a high percentage of his passes? It's also hilarious that you complain about fouls and yet worship one of our most aggressive and dirty players.
I'd just like to point out to all of those who keep harping how tenuous/unstable/unworthy/underthreat the Unions' spot in Eastern table is, that one-point ahead Eastern Conference golden child Montreal is getting whipped by the Pink Cows after having a couple draws far worse than against RSL and FC Dallas, AND they have a heavy schedule in the dog days of summer with an old team.......
The East really is anyone's conference. I would even venture to say the Revs, Crew, and resurgent Fire are still viable candidates to get near the top. With the Houston game just about over, you're looking at the Top 5 spaces being 4 points apart. Those outside the playoff spots range from 5-8 points back, all with games in hand. I'm not a fan of parity, but, even with our flaws, we are a candidate to go deep into the post-season, just because of this parity.
Tonight is not good for the Union. Parity makes every match competitive. It also means we do not end up like Spain with NY and LA playing the role of Barcelona and Madrid. But, I agree that it does not feel right with all the crazy rules and such.
As in the way things look now, it's logical this team could make a "before their time" run at the Finals. They may end up being an underdog in a playoff series, but by no means would they be anything more than a marginal underdog if the playoffs started today. The Union, as it stands right now, have every reason to believe they could beat any team in the East in a playoff series. That does not mean that their youth may trip them up along the way, but they have a legitimate shot to make a fun run.
Only if the opposing team is missing their star players. *****************************************************************
Jack has never been known to do such a thing. Clearly those match fixers who were coaxing Belize got to Keon. :[
My side point with that is everyone bitching that it's a meaningless friendly, when in fact they do mean something with regards to roster positioning and development.
The East is just a log jam right now. No team has separated itself from the pack and stayed there. MTL was the lead dog for a while but has been pulled back in. The revs at 6th are not completely out of it either as they have 2 games in hand and if they get lucky and get 6 they are tied with us. We need to just keep at it and we can finish anywhere in the top 5. The switch this year to making goals count more works in our favor as we are at/near the top in goals scored.
I bumped into the Chivas team at PHL on Saturday morning as we headed out on our vacation. Only rubbed their noses in it a little bit.
