thanks, its nice to read the following "We've got to try to put as strong a team as possible out there for the Cup," Howe said. Ticket sales are picking up as game day approaches. As of Monday, almost 5,000 tickets had been sold, the largest number of advance ticket sales this season, according to Collin Romer, the team's media relations coordinator. http://www.oregonlive.com/timbers/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/sports/1089806824311330.xml
Hell yea we are excited about it. Portland has shut down in preperation of the big match and the flag will be debut at the match. GO TIMBERS down the SMURF-FLAKES http://www.soccercityusa.com/bbs
That is one sweet ass flag. Alot of volunteer fan hours went into sewing that thing. Can't wait to see it tonight in The Woodshed. My bet there will be 10K there tonight with about 400 in the Timbers Army section singing their respective arses off.
PK to San Jose, red card to Portland............ Goal...... 19' Timbers play man down from 19th minute on SJ - 1 PT - 0 damn
Apparently the Timber announcer didnt think that foul was particularly much of note, so Im guessing the Ref felt it was the denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity. Ouch.
Timbers down 3-0. Ecklund, Corralles and DeResario have been the goal scorers. Game is in the 86th minute, I believe the attendance was announced at 10622.
from the OregonLive broadcast the Timbers have had a few nice scoring chances and SJ goalie has had a few outstanding saves.shame
I thought the Timbers looked just as good as the Quakes did, until Gavin got sent off which I think was very questionable. Even down a man, they did well to keep it even and had a good chance late in the half when an apparent handball stopped a Byron Alvarez shot. A chance to equalize on a clear penalty would have been fair, but no call was made. In the 2nd half, it was just too much San Jose as they controlled the ball for long periods of time, using their man advantage. Josh Saunders got beat twice to the same spot, high to the short side. The Timbers had a few good scoring chances but couldn't find the net. I feel the referee inserted himself too much into this game and there was no chance of seeing a fair match when Gavin got tossed and then the obvious handball was not called. Would love to see a fair game for 90 to see how these teams match up. Good luck to the Quakes in the next round. I'll have a match report with pictures and some video clips later on.
No full match report tonight, unfortunately. But here's a pic of the Timbers Army, which takes up much of this pic, and probably more off the right side of the pic. It was hard to tell where the Timbers Army ended tonight:
How old are you bro! seriously Funny how earthquack fans come out and talk crap only when they win Quake87 your team sucks, your fans and your team are an embarrasement to MLS, you wish san jose had fans like the timbers army. At least they were deticated and came out tonight to see their team play on a wednesday night(10,000+) for a second division team. Enjoy it buddy because your team will be gone soon. My hats of to timbers army for their size and detication even if the team lost real true supporters of a team much rather have you as rivals than the quakes and would be honored to have a rivalry with portland. by the way Quack87 Im a galaxy fan. http://www.ussoccer.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=81753 "It was a great crowd," said San Jose's Brian Ching, a former Seattle Sounder who assisted on the Earthquakes' second goal. "I give credit especially to the Timbers fans behind the goal. They're great fans, some of the best I've ever seen." U.S. National Team star Landon Donovan started for the Earthquakes before being subbed for at the start of the second half. He, too, was impressed with the turnout for Wednesday's match. "I know Portland is a big soccer town," he said. "I don't know many teams, that when you go down two or three nothing, the fans are still cheering like that."
Portland should get a MLS team for sure at some point, provided they can get an owner and all that. That crowd of 10,000 on a Wedensday night is quite impressive. Timbers Army should be proud of yourselves, well done!
i totally agree that portland should get an MLS team because i love soccer and living in soccer without an MLS team is no good...i went to the san jose portland timbers game that was awesome (dave osario's header) but i have to disagree with being proud of the timbers army because i thought they were pretty stupid fans "you suck **************" and booing the refs on every little call that didnt go their way when the calls were so obvious..me and my friends were the only ones who clapped for dave ossario's goal..you shouldnt expect a non-professional team to beat a professional one
Who the hell is Dave Ossario?!?!? Oh, and to the LARS jackarse who posted in this thread. Look at the banner. "Are you tristian in disguise." Bring that into Spartan, you'll get escorted right back out. How the hell are we supposed to support our team?
