Now that the 2012-2013 season is over, the next one begins with the following teams. FC Basel GCZ FCSG FCZ FC Thun FC Sion YB FC Luzern LS FC Aarau Some news to pass along, Decastel will start the season on the bench for FC Sion. After going through 5 different managers, including 2 times with Decastel, one has to wonder how long he will last. As an aside, I would love to see Christian Gross at Sion. I think Gross and Constantin would fight at some point. Roussey will also be back at LS. He guided them to two victories in the last three matches to ensure their status in the RSL. The other managerial news is that Uli Forte has left GCZ and is at YB. The money must have been really good. GCZ was to play in the CL qualifyers, while YB missed the Europa League.
http://www.sfl.ch/fr/Portaldata/2/Resources/downloads/Spielplan_RaiffeisenSuperLeague.pdf The schedule is out. 1st matches on 7 July. Winter break starts on 16 Dec and lats until 1 Feb. The season finishes on 14 May.
Recent results: Luzern - Winterthur 3-2 YB - Servette 2-1 Luzern - FC Wil 4-3 GCZ - Winterthur 1-1 LS - FC Sion 1-0 Thun - Dinamo Moscow 0-0 YB - Aarau 1-2 Upcoming matches: FCZ - 1860 Munich FCSG - Aalen
As it is 1 week to the opening round, time for some guessing. 1. FC Basel - even with more changes, they seem to be too strong once again. 2. YB - I think that this is the year that they actually do well. 3. GCZ - loss of scoring will hurt. 4. FCSG - Loss of leading scorer will hurt. 5. Thun - another mid-table finish for Thun 6. FCZ - lots of turnover. 7. Sion - talent is there for a much higher finish, but I would set over/under for managers at 3. 8. Luzern - it will be interesting to see how A. Frei tinkers with this team. 9. Aarau - run-away winner of the Challenge League last season has enough to stay afloat. 10. LS - lots of changes, it will be interesting to see if these help push LS up the table.
Put this in the that is intersting category. Neither FCZ nor YB have a title sponsor this season as of yet.
Rob, Can you point me to the best location online where I can view RFL highlights for the upcoming season? I tried viewing video clips on the Teleclub site (http://www.swisscom.ch) but they said they could not be shown outside of Switzerland.
Dave, this has been a challenge over the years. I used to watch them at tsr.ch, which was Television Suisse Romande. But last season the dreaded can not be shown out of Switzerland appeared. So last season sfr.ch was my website of choice. But it appears that this season, they are now blocked to those with IP addresses outside of Switzerland. I am still looking for this seaon.
13 July FC Basel vs Aarau 3 to 1 http://www.soccergoals365.com/529428/Basel_vs_Aarau_highlights.html YB vs Sion 2 to 0 14 July FCZ vs Thun 3 to 2 Luzern vs LS 2 to 0 FCSG vs GCZ 0 to 2 Almost a cleen sweep for the home sides this weekend. Aarau is welcomed back into the top flight with a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Basel. The Zurich/Thun match was an exciting one with 2 goals in the last 5 min to turn a 1 to 2 defeat into a 3 to 2 victory for FCZ. 1. Basel 3 2. GCZ 3 2. FC Luzern 3 2. Young Boys 3 5. FCZ 3 6. Thun 0 7. Aarau 0 8. LS 0 8. Sion 0 8. FCSG 0
Rob, Thanks for your response. I was afraid I wasn't looking in the right places. I just sent a message to the Swiss Football League explaining our plight. I will let you know if/when they reply.
I haven't yet heard back from the Swiss Football League, but I just noticed this afternoon that short highlights (with crowd audio only, no commentary) are now up on the league site at http://www.sfl.ch/multimedia/. I prefer the longer highlights that I've seen in prior years, but this is better than nothing.
20 July Aarau - Luzern LS - YB 21 July Sion - FCZ Thun - FCSG GCZ - Basel The GCZ-Basel match highlights what should be an interesting 2nd weekend.
20 July Aarau - Luzern 4-2 Aarau wins its first home match of the season. They looked pretty good in doing so. LS - YB 1-3 LS looses its second match of the season, and did not look good. I think that they are really going to struggle this season. 21 July Sion - FCZ 0-0 Sion looked much better than against YB, they seem to be finally starting to gel. Thun - FCSG 3-2 Very exciting match, FCSG looses their first two, but they were against GCZ and Thun, they should be fine. GCZ - Basel 1-1. Sommer saves Basel, for most of the match GCZ was the agressor and stronger team. YB 6 +4 Basel 4 +2 GCZ 4 +2 FCZ 4 +1 Aarau 3 0 Thun 3 0 Luzern 3 0 Sion 1 -2 FCSG 0 -3 LS 0 -4 When highlights become available, I will put up the link.
GC v Basel highlights: There are also links to the other RSL matches over the weekend pn the main youtube site. The person who uploaded the video - TheFCBmaster - usually posts highlights of all games over the weekend. However I refuse to "subscribe" to a Basler! LL
27 July: Basel - LS This match should contine the bad start for LS. GCZ - Aarau With Basel vs LS, GCZ needs a win to keep pace. 28 July Luzern - FCZ Luzern is in danger of starting their season like last one, then having to play well in the second half of the sason. Sion - FCSG Both teams need a win here. YB - Thun YB with the advantage in the Bernese derby. Not only are they at home, they did not make the long midweek trip to Tiblisi.
Two pieces of news: Raul Bobadilla was pulled over for doing 111 Kph in a 50 kph. He could face a massive fine as well as prison time. All Swiss matches will have water breaks due to the expected heat this weekend. And Sepp Blatter wanted to have the World Cup in Qatar in the Summer!
Basel - LS 2-0 Basel with a comprehensive victory. The real excitement came in the 61st and 62nd min. Chakhsi recieved a yellow for diving. The next min he took out Stocker from behind and warrented a second yellow, which he recieved. Stocker got up and choked him. Not the smartes move. GCZ - Aarau 4-2. At one point Aarau was ahead, but two goals from Hajrovic tied it up. Ben Khalifa, by the way, I think that this is the season for him to really break out, scored and GCZ cruzed to victory.
28 July Luzern - FCZ 3-2. A wild one in Luzern with two goals by Bozani. Not the best match for FCZ. Sion - FCSG 0-1. Still no goals for Sion and one point. I wonder how long until Delcastel gets fired. YB - Thun YB go to the top of the table with the victory over Thun in the Berner Derby. Thun started really well, expecially considering that they had the long trip to Georgia in the mid week. They were 0-2 at the half, YB played much better in the 2nd half. YB 9 +5 GCZ 7 +4 Basel 7 +4 Luzern 6 +1 FCZ 4 0 Thun 3 -1 Aarau 3 -2 FCSG 3 -2 Sion 1 -3 LS 0 -6 The only question that I have about YB is are they as strong as their position suggests. They have defeated Sion, LS and Thun. Not the strongest schedule to date.
3 Aug LS - GCZ FCSG - Basel 4 Aug FCZ - YB Thun - Aarau Luzern - Sion FCSG - Basel should highlight the first day, the FCZ-YB and Thun-Aarau should be the best of sunday.
In the what ever happend to department: Bulat Chagaev the former owner of Neuchatel Xamax is required to leave Switzerland by the end of August.
