Last year GOLTV televised the Final championship game but I don't think it was announced until just before the playoffs, so there is the possibility of the final being on TV again I think. We'll have to wait and see.
It was announced only three days before the final on Oct 26th and aired on tape delay on Oct 29th. So virtually no time to promote it. It all comes down to is Traffic willing to pay GolTV to air the championship game again? There were some who thought Traffic would pay GolTV to broadcast some NASL games this year, but it didn't happen. So don't expect to see any playoff games on tv.
One would think that Traffic would get a bargain to air the NASL Final(s) on GOLTV since beIN Sport has basically stripped it of everything but the Bundesliga and the U.S. Open Cup Final.
GolTV has been removed from DirecTV, so there goes that audience. While the NASL might be able to get a decent deal on that, you get what you pay for. Not everything is about what it costs. GolTV has really been hurt by beIN Sport and will likely have to re-invent itself to stay alive. Maybe that's with American soccer, because beIn Sport doesn't have any and the only American soccer programming on Fox Soccer now is the weekly college games and whatever CONCACAF Champions League games involve American teams. (And they may still do the occasional US Open Cup match if Wynalda is coaching one of the teams, I suppose.) There's an opportunity for GolTV. But I don't know how much human capital they have left as many have seemingly bailed to beIN. It might behoove the NASL to look at an outlet with a brighter future, unless GolTV is planning to go down fighting.
Agreed. Reinvention is GOLTV's only salvation at this point. However, my feeling is that they'll just end up like SETANTA.
I subscribe to GOLTV Canada which is the #1 soccer channel here with weekly canadian MLS, Concacaf, CMNT, German, Brazilian, etc. and lots of Canadian pro team only magazine type shows (including FC Edmonton team news and home games broadcasts), so we are in a totally different situation with GOLTV north of the US I guess. I'm lucky enough to pay only $2.95 per month as well as some pay as much as $10 per month.
I have GolTV in spanish with lots of soccer from Uruguay, Italy, Greece, Portugal,... but no MLS nor NASL
So which teams have TV coverage this 2013 season? Thought I heard San Antonio was on local TV and Atlanta Silverbacks on local Spanish TV?
Yup, the Scorpions are on the local ABC affiliate KSAT-12 and MeTV (MeTV sucks because it's not on DirecTV, which I have)
For those in Canada that don't have the Score TV channel and can't watch FC Edmontons games live, you can watch the replay through NASL.COM but only 24hrs after the broadcast.
