I dont think Torre is strong enough...have seen him bodied off balls or challenges more than once...and ya his distribution leaves something to be desired.
I can see why he didn't start for ucla. Weird Ramos didn't call up more CB options...one in Tijuana in particular. I like Hernandez's game alot. His versatility is very good too
Morris with a very nice run, settle, beats his defender then hits one with the outside of his right foot off the top of the bar, out for a goalkick. He's been impressive. edit: Apparently he left his mark for the Colombia goal. So, I guess I should say he's been impressive going forward.
Goal Colombia off a cross. 2-1. Koroma at fault for completely leaving his mark, of course. Not a good initial punch by McIntosh off the corner, Colombia gathered it again, fed it out wide and crossed it in nicely. Our guys fell asleep in the middle again.
I had forgotten how prone to hyperbole and how loose with actual facts Phil Schoen is. He knows the game but his struggling with details is maddening.
I'm not assigning McIntosh all the blame, but a better goalkeeper would punched away the cross that resulted in the second Colombia goal imo.
One thing our guys really fail at is that they telegraph their passes far too early. You can see what they're going to do with the ball a good 2-3 seconds before they do it and these teams have been punishing them for that. It is leading to many of the giveaways in fact, rather than just inaccurate passes. France was especially privy to it from the opening whistle, but Colombia is starting to really catch on and take advantage. That MUST be fixed but unfortunately that's a problem with refining fundamentals and it really isn't up to Tab to instill it.
I'm sure that one game he played at Santa Clara was more than adequate preparation for this team, I'll have you know!
60' Trapp (I think) attempts a goofy diving header when the ball is almost on the ground, and it hits his arm and goes clear of the area. Easily could have been a penalty.
