Really! I mean, it's Landon Donovan. Landycakes. The guy that runs to the ref if the opponent looks at him with derision. The guy that whines to anyone listening if someone tackles him (how DARE they??) The guy that took pouting to a whole new level because he was sad he couldn't play in England. This was the guy I couldn't stand, and just wanted someone to kick him in the vajayjay.

However, the time off seems to have done some good. He isn't whining about coming back and playing for the US. Shockingly, I saw him get tackled to the ground hard by Kimura in the second half, get up and extend a hand and smile to the guy that just shut him down. All of these indicate to me that his balls finally dropped, and our little Landy is becoming a man.

Still, whenever he's wearing that gawd-offal yellow and (teal? blue-green?) of LA, I hate him.

 

I've had worse things said to me by fans of the other team in rec league games. I figured I must be playing pretty well to attract their attention.

 

When I was growing up playing travel, our parents would say worse things to the ref and get thrown out. Different soft world now, and I'm not even that old or old.

 

You have to look at the source of the whining though - Landon laughed it off, it was the guy for whom that chant hit far far far too close to home (and who hates RBNY to begin with) who was going a lion's share of the whining.

We chanted this at Brian Ching. It's banter. I have no problem with it. I'm sure he's heard worse.
