It's going to be some task to try and repeat a season like this one in the near future for Bayern and almost an impossible mission, but I don't see the team going back to struggling in the next season or two unless they start to get complacent and rest on their laurels, which is something Pep considers a sin and puts your name on a poster up on his wall as one of the players he's ready to get rid of. He doesn't allow it. I think Bayern as a club are run better than most in Europe and, being at the top right now, won't allow them to get carried away and sit on what they have achieved. They'll go for more, pay the transfer fees for the players they desire, and accommodate the players around to make their futures at the club well assured and safe. Pep doesn't enjoy having egos in the locker room either, especially if they're practically trying to disrupt the harmony and chemistry in the locker room. He'll get rid of any problems he thinks are cancerous to what he is trying to achieve with the team for the short and long term future. So far, judging by what has gone on this season within the squad or by what has been reported, there haven't been many issues as such. Pep will judge for himself when he arrives though and I don't see him letting internal issues go away without some sort of punishment for the one(s) in question. I think Bayern's short term future looks good and could look just as fine for the long term if things continue to improve on different scales. It's about the only club in Europe that I believe won't let a bit of success have them get carried away and making stupid decisions on and off the pitch that affect them aka Barcelona post-Wembley 2011.
Imagine if we sign Lewandowski our training 11 vs 11(assuming everyone fit) will look more exciting than most official games Raf---Boateng-Dante--Alaba -------Javi-----Kroos-------- Robben---Gotze---Shaqiri ----------Lewy--------------- vs Lahm---DvB--Bads---Contento ----Gustavo---Schweini------ Muller---Pizarro----Ribery- ---------Mandzukic---------
Yeah, genuinely curious why people are against getting Lewy. Aside from most likely losing fan favorite Mario Gomez (which is an understandable concern), I don't see a lot of good reasons why we shouldn't be at least going after Lewy. Dortmund is losing Lewy no matter what. They offered him to be the highest earner of the team and he already declined. If Lewy goes abroad, that is a net decrease of talent for our league, plain and simple. But if we get him, and Dortmund uses the money to buy their young players, then that's a net increase of talent. Also, don't be too concerned about Dortmund. Their "weakness" or "demise" next season is overstated and exaggerated. They WILL be back next year, with or without Lewandowski. This whole season, only two teams gave us real problems: Dortmund and Leverkusen (sorry Arsenal fans, us sleepwalking on the return leg of the knockout stage doesn't count). And Dortmund, without Gotze and with an "off-form" Hummels gave us our toughest test in the CL final. With Klopp, Reus, Gundogan, Hummels, Subotic, Weidenfeller, Sokratis, KdB and/or Eriksen and/or Bernard and/or Son next year, they'll be good to go. Plus, they'll have money left for depth, which they didn't have at all this year. If we take time to adjust to Pep's system, the league will be much closer next year. Now considering that our main rival will be reloading next year with new weapons, should we rest on our laurels and stand idly by? Should we wait for them to catch up? Is that our responsibility? Remember, our transfer policy before the Van Gaal era was really aggravating. Whenever we would win the league, our only purchases would be Karimi/Hasheiman/Dos Santos-type purchases, which almost always resulted in us stagnating the following season and losing the Bundesliga. We would always be complacent, and it would bite us in the ass. For example, how many years did we have to wait to get a DM/CM that we desperately needed? We got Tymo right as we were about to shift from a 4-4-2 diamond to a 4-2-3-1, rendering a pure destroyer useless anyway. I would even argue that we held on to our older players after 2001 for too long, resulting in us taking 9 years before reaching the CL final, and 12 years before winning it again. Enter Lewandowski. One of the most in-form strikers at the moment, at the age of 24. Probably not as good in the air and as a defensive workhorse as Mandzukic and not as good a poacher as Gomez, but he combines those skills with the ability to hold up the ball until his pacy wingers can make diagonal runs behind him. That's a deadly combination with Ribery, Robben, Götze, Müller, and Shaqiri as his teammates. And guess what? He actually wants to play for us and only us. If you were part of the FO and you are looking for reinforcements for next season, and the league's star striker, who is already familiar with the league and the language, wants to join your team, then it's a no brainer. Also, I think that with that "Dortmund-beating-us-5-times-in-a-row-monkey" off our back, our FO isn't afraid of Dortmund anymore. They aren't going for Lewy to primarily weaken Dortmund. It might happen as a by-product, but I don't think that is the main reason why we are going after Lewy. I'm willing to bet they don't give a damn about that. Why should they? We don't need to weaken Dortmund to beat them; we beat them 3 out of the 5 times we played them this year, including the Champions League final. They're going after Lewy because they have a bigger prize in their sights. Our FO is smart and narcissistic, and they're looking at it as strengthening Bayern and putting the team in a position to conquer Europe for the next couple of years. Well that's what I'd like to think anyway.
They learned a hard lesson... Now they have a chance to form a new dynasty like barca has done for 5 years... It can be our time
BVB still waiting for Lewandowski bid http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1462225/klopp-bayern-make-lewandowski-bid?cc=5739
I am a tad confused, why hasn't Bayern bid for him? Also wasn't there a time limit on the 15 of this month or not?
I'm just speculating but without a bid there is nothing you can reject as Borussia Dortmund and gain the upper hand in case you're truly determined to keep the player at all costs. Maybe we didn't want the bad publicity prior to the Wembley final and now we've just better things to do until we finish our season on Saturday against Stuttgart in the Berlin final.
To me declaring that they have no offer if they had one would be against BvB's interests. Since they want to sell abroad(and there are potential suitors) it could increase their asking price if the other clubs know that there are already offers on the table. They could use that as a bargaining tool . Seems to me that Klopp is saying the truth
This is precisely why Lewadowski isn't signed ... Bayern still have work to do and don't need the distraction. It isn't like we didn't give up 3 goals in ten minutes the last time we faced another Bundesliga opponent not named BVB.
Is it true that Marco Reus has a release clause of 35 million? and if true what do you think our chances are to lure him in the future?
