"NY/NJ" was used solely because the NJSEA made the team use that as a condition of playing in Giants Stadium. You didn't answer my question, define the "New Jersey sports market".
I didn't say NJ sports market I have said if the team was NY from the get go and not NY/NJ or played in NY, I would not have followed them.
Gentlemen (and women), let's act like...gentlemen (and women). I understand that NY2 is a very touchy subject for some, but if we can't have a civil discussion about it then I'll be handing out warning points and deleting posts. No politics and no name calling. Thank you.
Anyway, I hate the fact there is another team in NYC. I will go to those games and make sure NYCFC is ridiculed in their own home stadium, whereever it may be. I will make sure they are doubly uncomfortable when they are in RBA. Yes, I'm happy to have a team to hate that is closer than DC, and that is what this is all about (plus smoke bombs and M80s.)
Being Italian, I like flares more. Buddy of mine sent me this. http://m.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/05/22/jeff-bradley-jersey-fans-rooting-nycfc-you-kiddin-me
That's funny because I was thinking I'm not sure it's as big of a slam dunk as I think Queens could be.
Totally possible, but with the complete lack of obvious options I was expecting them to land somewhere way out of the way.
Surely a rivalry, in particular if the rival will most likely blitz the media and thus create a kind of backlash that RBNY might exploit is a good thing?
new jersey never liked basketball to much, but they do care for soccer enough to make rbny viable. attendance may improve with nycfc in play. lets hope so. and nycfc needs a home quick, or they may not have a quick impact on mls.
Like in the WFAN deal I´m convinced that the real winner is the game itself.. You simply can´t beat a media presence for making the game "legitimate" in the eyes of the public. As for a stadium, what do you mean by quick?
One thing only.... That at least this will be a LEGITM NYC Team..... And contrary that many here thing, they will sale the stadium full more of the times, a thing that RBNY have not been doing so far..... The rest, quality and kind of administration, who knows, can't comment on that until they are not on the game and that will not be until Marsh 2015... One thing so, they will have they own TV Station (Yankee TV) and that will be as a money on the bank.... And to clarified a thing, I'm not against the DPs, what I'm against is of those old players that only come here for 1 or 2 years and them go spend they big pay check some place else and we, start building the team new every January and like that we will never have consistence or a team to follow year after year, because every year is a new team......
The Red Bulls are as legitimate an NYC team as any other, and anyone that claims differently can go absent themselves from society.
lol metz logic... "I have absolutely no idea how they'll be run, but I know with certainty that they'll succeed"
Ah, that is being worked upon and is at the "our lawyers talking to your lawyers" state right now..It will not come cheap though, the bane of building something in NYC. At a guess we´ll hear something before Christmas.
Let me spell it for you..... If they are not playing at New York, they are not New York team, so the nickname New York on the Red Bulls are a mock and isn't Legit, just a sorcerers' hotpot for part of the Red Bulls Beverage co.........
To this day I cannot wrap my mind around why people so constantly ignore this when talking about us playing in NJ...
There´s more to being a local community club than just a name.. It´s about having a presence where you are
Right I understand that, but there are a lot of people who like to use stadium location alone as a reason why Red Bulls don't support the NYC area, as if its impossible for people in the five boroughs to make a connection to a team that plays a few miles over the state border.
