If we make it out of the group stage, I am almost definitely going to plot my return there around a Champions League knockout match.
I think getting rid of Mazzarri before this CL campaign is going to be really beneficial. I was thinking a few weeks ago that using a 3 man defense in the CL is a really stupid idea, then the other day i was listening to this analyst who was saying Conte might go to a 4 man defense next year for that exact reason. it works great in Serie A when you're playing teams like Siena, Pescara, etc., but when you go up against teams like Bayern or Barcelona they will just tear the 3 man defense apart. not to mention, the analyst was also saying something that a lot of people here seem to have no noticed, which is that our players never really grasped the 3 man back line. yea Cannavaro, Camps, and Britos were solid all year and made it work, but 2 seasons ago it was a total liability and it seemed pretty apparent that whenever we went to a 4 man defense we looked way better. if we keep Cavani and bring in a couple class players I think we have a realistic shot of making a Dortmund-esque run in the CL next seson.
