It seems safe to say Mazzarri will not be at Napoli next season!

dude that was in 1985 lol. I understand what you're saying but Benitez won it twice, that's not a fluke or the stars coming together.

Benitez: La Liga (twice), Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Cup, FA Cup, FA Community Shield, UEFA Supercup, FIFA Club World Cup

    Mazzarri: Coppa Italia

    Need I say more?

Yup. Say something about Chelsea's wage bill compared to those of Napoli, Sampdoria and Reggina. How do they stack up?

No one's arguing that Rafa wasn't a good manager a decade ago. He clearly was.

As a Napoli sympathizer, though, I really want him to find somewhere else to ply his trade.

You can throw your wage bill theory out the window. What he did at Chelsea should not be underestimated. The club was a mess when he took over, the fans didn't want him and neither did the senior players, Yet he was still able to salvage their season and win the Europa league and secure champions league football. Did I mention he had Torres playing at a semi decent level and scoring goals again? Something no other Chelsea manager before him was able to achieve.
Like him or not as a person, you can't doubt the guys credentials, he is far and away the best candidate for the job.

He also ran a CL winning club into the ground because he wanted to undo all of Mourinho's work and put his stamp on the team, losing most of the players respect in the process. The fat waiter is the last guy you want, IMO.

... and that had nothing to do with Moratti refusing to re-inforce the squad despite doing it for his eventual successor or Mourinho going behind his back and getting into the head of his players.
Despite that he still managed to win the Supper Coppa and the Club World Cup, not bad for 6 months work.
If I were you I would be more worried about the prospect of Seedorf taking over from Allegri, now that is a disaster waiting to happen.

He had to reinforce a CL winning squad?

Are you suggesting Moratti sabotaged Benitez?

Benitez had all of Mourinho's pictures taken off the walls at the training center apparently. Did Mou get into his head too? I guess he did, he must if, that's obviously why they hate each other.

I'm not much worried about it because I don't overrate Allegri, and despite what you might think, I actually want Napoli to succeed. I don't think Benitez is special, that's all.

How does any of that diminish the fact that they have the 4th highest wage bill in the world?
