I still remember his solid goal for CP against us at Highbury. Reyes scored a beauty that day.

I randomly remembered Ruben de la Red on my subway home tonight. Had to google him to see what he is doing with his life these days.

Rooney is not going to Liverpool

I can see him going to Chelsea, since it looks like Falcao isnt coming, or to PSG if Zlatan leaves.

But I really dont think the guy is worth the trouble and financial commitments.

sport.es are reporting we have pre-signed higuain for around £18-19m on a 5 year deal, dependent on cl qualification.

Meh...if it is true. Did very little lately, lacks intelligence on and off the ball from the games I have seen, iffy finisher. The luster is off his shoes. I'd much rather see us spend money on a Benteke or Jovetic.

this was doing the rounds this weekend

If we sign someone like Jovetic, Id be ok with this. But I wouldnt if he were asked to be our #1 guy. Im not a Higuain fan at all.

The exception does not make the rule. This year? Two years ago? How many seasons like last one?

for the last 4 season, just in the league:
    pld/goals/assists
27/12/10 (on a per minute played basis, it's a goal every 168mins, or a goal or assist every 91mins)
    34/27/7
    28/11/11
    32/26/5
    on average: 30/19/8.

Rooney would cost way too much, would bring way too much drama, would demand more than double our highest wages, and looks to be on the downslope of his career. On top of that, where would he play at Arsenal?

In the Wilshire role after Wilshire goes to Bayern to play in the Gotze role. Welcome to the silly season.

Can Rooney add quality to our squad? You bet he would, his pace and tenacity is something we miss at our club, but his wages are astronomical which disqualifies him. 250k a week is crazy for any footballer.

I honestly think he'll end up in Chelsea. He would fit perfectly in their team and they can afford to pay him whatever he wants.

How about more realistic signings like Lukaku? Do you think he will be a good fit here? I think we can steal him away from Chelsea-- especially if they keep buying strikers which impedes his involvement with first team.

Eriksen in talks with Borussia Dortmund. Seems like a good place for him to settle. Anyone think we should have made a move for him?

The problem with Rooney is that there really isn't any good club for him to go to, except PSG maybe. He's a great player, but given his diet/smoking habits the fear is that he'll decline more quickly than most. It's hard for me to think he'd be happy at Fulham or somewhere, or that they could afford him if they wanted. I don't think he's good enough for Real, Barca, or Bayern, though they could afford him.

The other thing is it's hard to see why he's raising such a stink about wanting to leave United now. Even if he and SAF have fallen out again, given the drama over SAF leaving, it seems petulant to want to leave now. There's plenty of time for that after the season, and given that you have to wonder about his motivation no matter where he goes.

Yeah, but for me it's the one plausible club for him. It's arguably an acceptable place for someone of his stature. They're in the CL and probably will be for a while. Money issues shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think that's an issue at all. Even at his relatively poor form currently and given the other options available Rooney will be in the England squad for as long as he wants, and probably in the team as well.

No. A good clue is that you can read Sport.es in català. Marca, not so much ;)
