We don't need Neuer for most of our matches, so Pep can play Martinez as a False 1 LewandowskiRibéry-Götze-Müller/RobbenSchweini-KroosMartinezAlaba-Badstuber/Boateng-Dante-Lahm Subs:Neuer, Shaqiri, Rooney, Neymar & Mandzukic
Additionally, there are quotes from Kuba where he talks about Lewandowski. He says he won't be mad if he moves to Bayern because a football player has to take care of and look after his own career. So if you put 2 + 2 together, it is looking likely that he'll be joining this summer. Nothing set in stone, but it's looking likely. Also, in the same interview, he says Rafinha called him after the game to apologize for the elbow during the BvB game. Hahaha silly Raf
Benching Martinez or moving him to CB would be a bad move IMO. Schweini and Martinez are looking like the best CM pairing in the world after less than 12 months together. I wouldn't want to disrupt that just to get more Bayern youth products on the pitch.....
Badstuber out and Kroos in doesn't really increase the amount of youth products on the pitch. It was just about pure footballing quality.
I'm glad this Rooney rumor is dying down. Funnily it is Sportsmail which is reporting that the link to Bayern was "pure fabrication". It was Sportsmail which reported first about the possible transfer....myohmy...they probably know because they made it up in the first place.
Mueller Rib Kroos Gotze Schwein Marti A Bad/Boa Dante L N I definitely expect Pep to experiment with Mueller and Goetze as false 9s
To be honest I don't think we even need Lewandowski. Muller would be an excellent striker in a Guardiola system. Still, I won't complain if we do sign him. It would just be more quality at Guardiola's disposal.
You had me agreeing until you got to the "let's sign him anyway" part. To pay what will be required, there is no reason for him to be sitting on the bench half the time. Some combination of Ribery, Robben, Müller and Götze will be great. Solid balance of age, experience, youth... All speed.
For all doubters of the Lewandowski transfer this is a quote from Klopp's Kicker interview. The full interview will be released tomorrow in Kicker's Monday issue.
I don't think you need Lewandowski either but I think he can make Bayern even better than now. Lewandowski would be great in a 4-3-2-1 and Müller would be great in a 4-3-3. Ultimately that would give you variation. Mandzukic could likely fill in as a depth and rotation player. Still think someone like Gomez can be important for depth as well but if Lewandowski comes, I don't see Gomez as necessary to keep. Lewandowski provides physical strength and aerial ability of Gomez.
If Lewandowski comes I think it would be better for Bayern, Gomez, and the national team if Gomez were to sign for a different club. Don't get me wrong I like Gomez as a person and a player, but I think he would be spending far too much time on the bench under Guardiola. Bayern would still have the best striker crew in Europe with Lewandowski, Muller, and Mandzukic and Gomez would get to be a starter somewhere else.
I hope Gomez stays, I think he was treated unfairly this season. And I wonder if its feasible financially to keep him since both Tymo and Piza are leaving that will leave some salary space. But it would be up to him if he wants to face fierce competition with Lewa and Mandzu or be the no. 1 undisputed starter somewhere else
How was he treated unfairly? Mandzukic did exactly what Jupp asked of him and that's why he started. If Heynckes wanted a poacher in the lineup he would have played Gomez, but he didn't. Mandzukic showed he had the qualities Jupp was looking for so he got the playing time. Nothing unfair about that.
I know Müller has been great recently, but I think he'd be an awesome super-sub. He can basically backup Lewandowski, Götze, Kroos, and Schweinsteiger(with Götze moving to the middle). -------------------------------Neuer(Starke)--------------------------------- Lahm(Rafinha)---Badstuber(Boateng/Kirchhoff)---Dante(Boateng/Kirchhoff)-----Alaba(Contento) ------------------------------Martinez(Gustavo)------------------------------ --------------Schweinsteiger(Götze)--------Kroos(Götze)----------------------- Götze(Müller)----------------Lewandowski(Mandzukic/Müller)-------------Ribéry(Shaqiri)
I like the 4-2-3-1 more, it may not be the case, but it looks like the wingers do more defensive work that way.
It's really crowded in our offense, isn't it? In my personal opinion it would be a waste to buy Götze for a wide position because there is no need to replace Müller or Robben on the wing. I expect him competing with Kroos for the CAM position with Müller and Robben battling it out wide but then again we don't even know how we're going to play next season formation wise.
it will be stupid to leave him out next season. He still has some life in him for at least another season. Gotze won't affect his position all that much.
He got injured and after that Jupp only played him a few times. And he proved his worth many times when Mandzukic was not clearly in his best form yet Jupp insisted on starting him. I think after Gomez scored against Hoffenheim and Leverkusen he deserved to start but that wasn't the case with Jupp. Let me ask you this: Say we get Lewa next season, and Lewa is off his game, we are 1-0 down and 20 minutes remaining who would sub in for an equalizer Mandzukic or Gomez?
Mandzukic was in bad form by your standards, but obviously he was still doing what Heynckes wanted him to do. I think Heynckes has done pretty darn well this season. I'd trust his judgement. Again, just because Gomez scored some goals means he deserves to start? What if Jupp didn't need him to score goals? What if he wanted him to be the first line of defense and link up play for the other attackers? Muller.
