Roma doing well, keeping the ball circulating efficiently around the Inter box. Really safe way to kill off the game. Then a foul is drawn, ball's switched, Torosidis knocks the ball over a pair of defenders and runs past them. A great looping shot on the half volley! 3-1 Roma! Wow.
Goal Inter! Ricky Alvarez cuts in from the right and hits a shot back across the grain. Stekelenburg is frozen and the ball rolls in. 3-2 Roma
Was that really bad from the keeper? He didn't try and unless that took a deflection, it seems as though he had a chance on it... Roma needs another American...this one named Guzan!
Totti should have done better there. Quick counter by Roma, Totti gets the ball at the top of the box. He tries to get the recovering defender to commit, but the defender does well to keep his feet. Totti cuts the shot back to far-post through the defenders legs, but it goes JUST wide.
It's too bad they couldn't be quite like the ones he's been putting through for the past few minutes, really getting involved this close to the final whistle.
Dodo has been a bit disappointing off the bench for Roma. A few promising counters have died with him.
3-2 Roma FINAL. Bradley had a great game. The only negatives I can find was once or twice he dribbled into trouble. Other than that he was a rock: winning most of his tackles, sharp with his short and long passing (I don't recall a single missed pass), and rarely turning over the ball. Great performance from him, and a nice game from Roma.
Pretty good performance. They were dominating Inter's midfield in the 2nd half. MB made a lot of interceptions/tackles and some nice passes. Why would Inter put out a weak team for a semifinal?
Agreed, MB90 (dare i say) looked really good. Really good. 2nd half, needing a goal, coach had bradley pushing forward alot more than the 1st half. Smooth on the ball, saw one forced pass around 70' but damn am i reaching for any negatives. Was pretty neat to see him play that well for such a big team in such a big game.
How important is the Cup in Italian football culture? Similar to the FA Cup or more similar to the American version ?
Not Italian, and dont follow the league closely, but i recall that when he was a Chievo, people said that top teams dont work that hard to win it unless they are in the semis or so. However, I think Roma has played first choice players all the way through.
Well Roma's playing their 17th final, and going for their 10th cup. So it's pretty significant for them.
The main domestic cup in each country is usually taken pretty seriously by every club. I'm not sure if Italy has anything like the League Cup, but that is the one that gets treated like a reserve team cup.
