I think we should sub Beasley, but not sure Morrow will do better, besides the fct that we would "lose" 1 sub.

Also Jorge Ramos is Uruguayan. Alejandro Moreno played in MLS and is Venezuelan.

Nope. Plenty quick at AZ and some of that is from the wings where he gets out wide.

I honestly think part of Cameron's bad play is Klinsmann trying to get something out of him that he's not capable of.

No excuse, but I think that's definitely a big factor.

if we go by previous NT stats chances are Dempsey is not going to score in this game. He usually does his damage in the first 35 minutes of a game. I hope he can defend better than in the first half, maybe he is not coming down by design. I hope we get to see Corona some where either RW or in the midfield.

I'll put this on the coach, JK probably pulled him aside and said, push up to keep that side pinned back...what JK failed to realize is that mexico doesnt care, they dont respect our attack down that side.

He doesn't look faster, or quicker, and he isn't making runs. Plus he doesn't jump. Fighting and grappling is wonderful, but he's supposed to get away from those guys. And he isn't doing that.

Agree, he got a BS yellow - but he's held up well under pressure.

The yellow card is worrisome but I doubt we have better options than Beasley over there. He's made a few mistakes but has had some good possession. The yellow card was also undeserved.

Agree completely. He looks completely in control. Amazing the contrast between Bradley and Beasley, for example.

    A few things:

    1. Zusi - not so bad tonight. He was lax in defending a couple times, but it looks like he CAN contribute offensively.
    2. Che Gomez - invisible for much of the first half.
    3. I trust Guzan more than Howard right now.
    4. Besler - tough - in spite of what Twellman said he had 3 pretty egregious errors:
    1. Kept the player onside that led to Beasley's card.
    2. Woefully out of position when Chicharito was given the 2 hand shove by Bradley. Besler was far up field and Bradley was forced to cover
    3. Kept the player onside when Guzan was forced to come out and punch clear after the late free kick. Not a foul, Guzan and the defender were both going for the ball fortunately the ref called it for us.
    5. Mo Edu made much ado of a simple pass that caught us well out of position in most areas and Mexico could not capitalize.

I am not knocking Besler - tough assignment for your first international. Had a couple of good clears.

Mexi's were frustrated for much of the half. If the crowd gets more unsettled so do they. (Still don't think we will get a point - but still hopeful.)

It doesn't -- he's Venezuelan -- but three-in-the-booth never works well, regardless. It always takes some of the urgency out of the match call, somehow.

Oh and one more thing...WELL DONE BESLER AND GONZO!

They haven't been perfect but they've won almost everything in the air when challenged, and they've done relatively well distributing out of the back. Good stuff, good composure.

Why is everyone surprised by MExico abandoning possession and going wide? This what they've been doing for over a couple of years now. They play a direct style now.

Edu tries long switches from midfield to ~box top right or deeper. A bit too much long ball from everybody in our backfield. We must think Mexico's backline is more vulnerable than their midfield.

He's not terrible defending. Pretty decent for a winger actually. Not defensive minded enough for LB but far from a terrible defender.

The original poster was referencing the tension between Twellman and the other color analyst. Whether the second poster was referring to Jorge Ramos idk.

Yeah but most of our possession was without intent. I thought we'd win the possession battle, because we play like the old Mexico...and they play like a more skillful version of the old us.
