Several teams in the CONCACAF likes to play games and use gamesmanship. When the tables are turned on them, they cry bloody murder. Act like it is a tragedy. Play the victim. Hypocrites.

Except Costa Rica had to attack in those circumstances, which is far more difficult then just kicking balls over the sideline.
Still doesn't matter if it was unfair or not (which it was), that's not for the referee to decide, neither is it something he takes into account when deciding whether to stop the game or continue.

Ok, then point to the guidelines. I know it's not cut and dried. It's going to vary from referee to referee and day to day. The last chance for anyone other than the referee to have a say in this decision was before the game when the Fifa match commissioner made the decision to play.

You didn't see the match but you're confident that it shouldn't have been played?

    Go away, troll.

I just received a warning from The Mod. Another BS genius. He went on and on about what the forum can and can't have and me being over the top.

But the ignorant putz couldn't figure out that I recognized my own sinfullness in the very post that he found so "over the top." By the way, "over the top" is lazy usage.

Not only that, but the ignorant clown couldn't recognize the post as an expression of frustration with those who paint with the broad brush.

And he calls me a TROLL?

If he thinks for one second that I give a ******** about his silly little verbal warning, then he can suck Tico cock.

I'm one of the most respected people on these boards. I come and I go. I don't post obsessively and I go years without weighing in. If you want to kick me off, go for it. I really couldn't give a ********.

    BS Feel the Passion.

You don't actually play the game, do you? A defender must react to whatever the offensive player does. Wet fields = defenders missing tackles or losing steps.

    Unfair my ass.

Maybe Mexico should complain about games at high altitude too. And games played in smog...

Now you're moving the goalposts. The field is inspected and measured. As we found out when the US played A&B, the time to register a complaint about the standards and condition of the field is before it starts. If, as a federation, you are waiting to measure the field until after the game, you failed to do your due diligence.

The tax analogy is farcical as well. If you fail to file my the 16th and you owe, you will be assessed a penalty. It doesn't matter if you were blissfully ignorant of the deadline. If you are owed a refund, the government isn't going to lose sleep over you failing to file your request to return your no interest loan.

    Yes?

Wet field = defender slipping = advantage offense. You whined that Costa Rica had to attack in the second half. Oh noes!

And a waterlogged pitch is 10 times more dangerous than a few inches of skiable powder.

Make sure you protest your upcoming ban in the presence of their captain, and file your complaint within two hours of receiving it. Good luck. :D

This has nothing to to with the laws of the game. All they say, paraphrased, is that the referee is responsible for determining if the field is playable. That's it. The laws also say that the decisions of the referee concerning the facts of the game are final. As a judgement decision, where is the debate? It's honestly a decision no different that a decision to give or not give a penalty kick.

The Fifa regulations for the world cup are a completely separate document and if you are going to compete, you damn well better know what to do in the event you feel you're hard done and need to protest. How the hell can you expect a protest to be taken seriously if you fail to follow the defined procedure?

Who said anything about clubs? This is what you wrote:
So what exactly are you talking about here? You compare Santos (which could mean either the club itself, its fans, or both) to England and Argentina (which could mean one club, multiple clubs, fans, the national teams, etc). You set no standard here.

Protip: If you want to argue something rationally, all things have to be equal. The example above is far from it, and all it makes you is just a really shitty troll with the intelligence of a doorstop.

Furthermore, you are grossly underestimating the intelligence of the rest of us since you were, in fact, clearly referring to fans because you set the context in an earlier post:
So we are clearly talking about fans here. And those animals that instigated the brawl at the 2011 Libertadores final are Santos fans, just like you.

    One

    Two

    Three

    Four

    Five

    Six

    Seven

    Eight

    Nine

    Ten

While were at it, I'll also point out that the homicide rate in Brazil is higher than the US, UK, and Argentina combined.

Look kiddo, it's obvious as day that you're a clown and a bad troll. Stop trying to derail this thread about the US vs Costa Rica match last Friday. That is what this thread is about, not you yammering on about a bunch of bullshit in Brazil. Enjoy my ignore list.

So, two wrongs make a right? So it's only fair then that we can protest such a change. Can't wait until September!

You just keep on moving those goal posts!

[farce] I am shocked that we would assume that Costa Rican federation members would have laptops with wifi capabilities or tablets. I agree with bofahey - CR is all things considered, a third world country - in fact, I believe the head of the CR delegation has my first cellphone that I purchased 15 years ago. It is highly unlikely that individuals, in a traveling delegation in this day and age would carry such items as laptops, tablets, and smart phones with them. Especially since those delegates from a country such as Costa Rica would not be intelligent enough to research said laws during the match. Hell, Denver could have been in Hawaii for all they knew when they boarded the plane! [/end farce]

This isn't true, actually. There's something called the Court of Arbitration of Sports or something like that that can overrule FIFA.

You know what bofahey reminds me of? Andy Kaufman when he was doing that wrestling stuff. You couldn't tell if he was doing performance art to the nth degree, or he was just crazy.

The way he keeps saying soccer is more like baseball than football is just too much.

Eduardo Li Sanchez, president of the Costa Rican FA, is listed as General Manager of AVT corp. He was also the owner and co-founder of Punterenas F.C.

    http://cr.linkedin.com/pub/eduardo-li-sanchez/53/991/662

He also is working to bring the Women's World cup to Costa Rica. Doesn't sound like someone who would have a firm grasp on FIFA LOTG, right? Or even more likely, have someone nearby who would be familiar with or able to quickly access the laws of the game?

If someone could access his full LinkedIn Bio or find out his general educational background, I would appreciate it. My Spanish is horrible.

Finally, I find it hard to believe a traveling FA delegation would not have a lawyer as part of their traveling group. I wish you would stop painting this Pollyanna picture of a happy go lucky CR delegation being side-swiped and surprised when a snowstorm hit Denver. If you haven't noticed we are STILL playing in places like Saprissa and the Azteca and are still being mistreated.

This is a face saving move by CR. But, knowing FIFA, I wouldn't be surprised if it gained traction.

Edit: Jorge Hidalgo, Vice President of Fedefutbol is an attorney.

    http://fedefutbolcr.com/comite-ejecutivo/?show=71

Jorge Hidalgo was part of the CR delegation at the game.

There was a practicing lawyer for Costa Rica at the game!!!

Bofahey should make my ignore list for being a pedant, but I am interested in seeing his response. Again Bofahey - these guys aren't a bunch of yokels.

That's because they were outplayed earlier in the game. The snowy conditions were the same for both teams the whole game and not particularly helpful to one over the other EX ANTE. It was legal for CR to score first. They just couldn't.
