Just got this in an e-mail. Not sure how I feel. I'm happy to be included, but it seems like kind of an odd year to pick. Maybe it's to give everyone credit for sticking around after the new stadium smell wore off. I'll copy the full text in a minute.

EDIT: Here's the rest of the e-mail:

Everyone save the email on your hard drive. So we can show everybody 7 years from now that we were supposed to receive a season ticket holder wall!

I don't know where to start, but at least they are finally making good (sort of) on their promise. I guess someone other than Eric Wynalda reads our boards.
I'd hate to be the guy who was around for the first couple of years, especially year one into two and then for some reason didn't renew this time and get screwed again. But oh well.

BTW, it's still not the STH plaque that was promised back in 2006/2007. That was supposed to be something of a founders' plaque or similar, not just a wall covering for every 2013 STH. But I guess its a step up from printing everyone's name in the program in an unreadable size.

Too be honest, I haven't been around long enough to know the real story on the STH plaque, but I figured it'd at least be worth the mention since it's become such a running joke.

My reaction depends on what they mean by "wall." Are we talking a wall right on the concourse (which is what it looks like based on the promo image)? Is it going to be painted on or just a covering/ cling that can change yearly? I'm skeptical too, but who knows, the FO might do it up right and make a classy, perman- oh, who am I kidding?

I'm expecting a stand alone outside the stadium type thing like reliant's

Only photo I could find online. Sits near Houston Texans team store

All original season ticket holders are on that wall. It's like 5 large glass panels. Names etched

You guys make me laugh. I understand the failed promise of the original season ticket holder plaque, but the comments here are unnecessarily cynical.

First, this is Houston, Texas! No matter what they build it won't be around for anyone's great grand kids to see it and say, "Look at that! My Great Grandpa was a Houston Dynamo season ticket holder way back there in 2013. We tear things down here; BBVA isn't ever going to become Old Trafford. I'm a history guy and I don't like that about the city but it's the reality.

Second, the thinking that "they're making a wall, but it will suck" makes me think of the guy who wins a "million dollar lotto" and complains that it's not REALLY a million because he has to pay taxes! It's something, and its something that we didn't have yesterday, and its something that no one HAD to do for us.

Geez guys! They're putting our names up there somewhere, somehow. It's cool, it's fun, take a picture and leave the picture for your great grand kids. But stop acting like the team somehow owes we fans a box full of gold coins.

This I agree with completely. It's just going to be a wall like their other ones, it's nice and all but nothing to lose sleep over either way. But I like it...

I have to laugh at your post (I get it but), I just saw a thing on KPRC about the ongoing saga of what to do with the Astrodome.

As for cynical-of course it's Big Soccer, remember what happened to the sunshine crowd, or whatever they were called. And God forbid you actually think Corey Ashe is a good player. Sheesh.

But your point is good-we have a stadium, a perpetual winner, with two cups in the first two years. I've said it before, I'll say it again-I'm a happy camper. If your not-go talk to some Metrostars fans. Hell our two cups are enough to last my lifetime.

    i'm with this guy.

this team has brought me and this city countless joy and happiness (even in defeats). i've met some amazing people and made some life-long friends that i've would of never met. i've made countless new memories going to games with my dad. i've repaid this team by etching their name on my heart and never expected anything more in return than what they've already given me. <=== #alachingada

it was sunshine police, and they are still around, trust me. and ashe is still wayyyyy over rated. and while we are at it, so is bruin!

those of us who went all in the first year are of course a little jaded after having the rug yanked out from under us when it comes to the "thank you/rewards/gifts" etc that the FO promised us. In the early days, during 110 degree heat at a crappy stadium, watching a bunch of guys you really don't know a lot about but have given 100 percent to anyway (warning--run on sentence ahead) receiving anything from the FO was fantastic. when they announced the STH plaque, we were all excited because we, the founders, would then have some thing to point to years down the road and say "yeah, I was country before country was cool", "I was there on the ground floor" "I supported this team with out having to be begged, bribed or jump on the bandwagon". so its much more than some stupid plaque that never materialized that irks some of us. it's the disappearing act that happend time again from the FO the first three years.
However (said in stephen a smith voice), this new wall is a good idea and im glad its happening. i will proudly point out my name to whomever in unfortunate enough to be walking by at the moment. let's just hope its done correctly, quickly and in a way that truly represents a thank you from the FO to the STHs.

Now where is my 2007 media guide?!?!?!?

The thing about the plaque was that it was one of those "renew by October15 to be eligible" type of things. I just didn't have the money by that deadline though I did come up with it soon after. I would love to have first year STHs to be honored with a plaque, or first 5 year STHs. But to say they needed to renew by an arbitrary date that had nothing to do with the season is wrong.

What is wrong is promising benefits or gifts in an inducement to buy or renew then not following thru on them. There's a pretty good list of those (like guaranteed premium items for STH, discount cards, etc.). The STH plaque is a fun running joke because I specifically remember that promise in a phone call to renew early as a main selling point - and this was when the STH was far lower than today.

But that's the way they get folks to pay up front and renew, by offering incentives. You give up the money for the new season months in advance, the club has an early income stream. It's a perk that is given and it would be wrong to first offer a perk, then change the rules so as to include everyone.

Last year the incentive was to renew by a set date and have the opportunity to play on the pitch at BBVA Compass Stadium. I was one of the first to renew, but never was contacted to take advantage of the offer - however many folks were and did take advantage.

If they did something for them there'd probably be some guy that would refuse to participate and would give his spot to somebody else.

It would also be wrong to offer a perk and then not deliver on the offer.

    Hi.

I'm in school and trying to paying off some debt, so my co-season ticket holder took over our two seats for this season and I'm buying them off him for a number of games we'll go to.

Oh well, I won't lose any sleep over it.

did you renew early from year one to year two? because if you did, and with your current situation, that would royally suck. But I too, wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

At times, the FO's execution of some promised incentives or initiatives has been lacking. Probably not by design but for a few years it was common for something to not get followed thru on.

I will say they did honor the original priority list of "founding" STHs when picking seats in the new stadium. Credit to them on that.

And I have to say that seriously getting to play on the pitch was one of the coolest things I've gotten to do with the Dynamo. I was worried how it would turn out but it really was fun. 20 minutes on a small field, no cleats allowed, but our game was pretty competitive and fun.

I took the meet and greet. I got to say hi, to Rico. Rico is like, hey man I know you, what's your name again? My wife, hangs her head and mumbles "I married that guy"

Would have rather done it like Colorado and had the season ticket holders names on the shirt.

    That was class.
