Well the first head to head confrontation will take place on Wednesday. They will battle many times with Chelsea and Manchester United in the coming years. Let"s hope this is the start of a huge rivalery both on the club and International stage.

No doubt in my mind that Portugal will beat Netherlands. Spain and England are both better then Netherlands and Portugal beat them both very easily, therefore they should have no problems against Netherlands on wednesday.
    You'll see.

I woudn't say those were 2 easy games... He beat spain 1-0 and then we beat england 6-5 on penalties... but we did play much better we just have to put it in the net.

    ....................................................................................

Forget orange juice get yourself some fine ..porto wine, you deserve it!! lol

We ,romanians, hope Portugal wins the whole thing, not only because our close latino connection but also the football connection!!
We know what it means to play A beautifull, entairtaining style of football and always come short!! And see predictable , boring, defensive -minded teams like Italy and Germany winning all the time, almost!!
its time for a really talented and offensive team to win one!!
Romania had their biggest chance ever in 94 ,when we beat eveybody quite easy(Columbia,Argentina,Us, ...)
and lost to a strange , untactical swedish team in penalty kicks!! otheriwise we would've gone all the way past a very medicocre Brasil and Italy!
    So,win one for us too!!

And that 'smilling punk' Ronaldo, forget the goal, forget how well he complements Figo up front, did you see how many balls re recovered in...defence??
He will be quite a complete player soon ,unless some 'Ashley Coles 'of the world will put end his carreer early with some malicious taclkles! I hope not. he's a pleasure to watch!!

I think Portugal-Czech rep. will be a dream final ,with you winning over the best team in europe at this moment!

Hmm, I somehow figured the Portuguese on here wouldn't be gracious winners.

Anyway congratulations, the best team won. But you weren't as superior as you claimed you would be, and I think the Czechs have the better team.

Thanks for your post. I have many Romanian friends watching the games with me.. especailly last night. I appreciate the great feedback you have given to me (us Portuguese). We were amazing. Ronaldo/Maniche scored the outstanding goals, but they all played together as a team. (they even let one goal in to give the dutch some satisfaction!!!) but yeah Ronaldo will go far. He's shown us all that he is talented, just like Figo and the many players on the Portugal team. VIVA PORTUGAL VIVA. I do kinda wish that Greece beats the Czech.. end it like we started it, 'cept Portugal wins 2-1.

Hmmm.. I somehow figured there'd be a netherlands fan crying right now.

Thanks for the congratulations - Portugal definitely played another great game and will continue it till the end, because why stop now? Czechs have a lot of newbies and youngsters on their team - there's nothing compared to the legends on the Portugal team followed by the amazing football talent from C.Ronaldo and Deco, and wow.. i could go on and on forever. The Portuguese team is very complete. Czech's are good, and it'd be a great match to see in the finals (as well as Greece), but you never know. Greece has also done very well in this tourny. But either way, Portugal will take it.

The Dutch were mediocre yet were able to create plenty of chances against the Portuguese. I don't think the Czechs will miss such chances. THat's all I'm saying.

In fact the Dutch were mediocre, i agree on that, i was expecting much more, but when you say they created plenty of chances, no way!, i agree if you said that they were danger at times, but real chances only one or two, overmars in the first half, and a great cross in the second half that everyone missed the header.
I hope Holland find a real coach, because its a tremendous waste o talent in that team, certainly with all the great players Holland have and had in the past you were able to reach one final, of the last 3 semi-final you lost, 1998, 2000 and 2004.

While I'd first like to congratulate Portugal on a good win - what corner of your posterior did you pull that statement out of? newbies and youngsters? Nedved, Poborsky, Koller - I think they're fine.
I think the Czechs have the best team in the tournament, and if they get past Greece, I'm really looking forward to the final.

Enjoy your victory on the Algarve, or wherever you are.

Well, we will take our chances. We'll see what either Greece or Czech's have to offer. WE missed lots of chances too.. but we could afford it, cause we dominated well. We won't miss as much in the finals when everything counts.

And here I thought the we were the only ones that always blamed the ref.

Get over it....Portugal has seen it share of bad calls go against them. Nice to see the tide turn a bit.

The main reason that most of these so called "Elite Teams" are losing is simple:

    Lack of talent.

Yes - But this is 2 ref's in 2 seperate matches... both of whom are from countries which were beaten by the team they're officiating over. Urs Meier's Swiss and we beat Switzerland. Frisk is Swedish and Holland beat Sweden. You have to admit, that's a little strange.
