    Huh!!!??? I don't get it, neither Ibrahimovic's flying backheel nor Owen's 180
were listed??? Glad I can't vote over here, anyway. But very strange
    nevertheless.

Yeah I was suprised too. Especially since the goal by Rooney and Makaay didn't seem as good as the others.

Maniche's (Team Portugal) goal in the game tonight (Portugal vs Netherlands) was an outstanding goal. Outside the 18 yard box, pass by C.Ronaldo. Went into the net like a bullet... and i'd say 200 mph speed...

Why does everybody keep saying the Ibrahimovic goal was great  It was a fluky goal in the box. Nothing spectacular about it at all.

Spoken like a true Italian. I hope the grapes in Tuscany aren't so sour else the Chianti will be ruined.

Portugal's second goal (actually both goals) as described above came off a corner kick. Figo almost had a stunner.

I, too, was wondering why some goals were included and some not. Had to have the a Pom goal, of course.

I'm not Italian and I've never been to Tuscany. Since we've cleared that up, tell me why Ibrahimovic's goal is so spectacular.

The second portugal goal in today's game is the best one i've seen and I've seen them all. The second best would be Rui Costa's goal last game v England.

    ..................................................................................

Because my dear 'non-italian'(damn,i got fooled too! lol),

Unless Ibrahimovich intended to kick that ball over the goal post, from that position, then I say it was quite spectacular!! So, if you kick a ball from any position and intend to go in and goes in, then is ...intentional!! now you know why Ibrahimovich made that spectacular goal...in purpose and not by accident??

But they forgot Ruuds goal too!

The Rooney goal deserved to be in there. A one two and a run from inside his own half cutting through the defence and then a cute finish, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way with his eyes.

The Ibrahimovic goal is greatly overrated, standing 6 yards from goal in front of the goalkeeper and just flicking his boat out.

nobody is talking about Gomes' goal against Spain....not only was it huge, but it was perfectly placed through traffic (3 defenders and into the corner)...not to mention he wasnt even looking when he shot it.
that is my favorite, butm Ibrahimovic, and Tomasson are the others i liked

While a bit lucky, I thought Ibrahimovic's goal was very intentional. He clearly knew what he wanted to do and his expression immediately after he hit it had that "Yes!" look to it.

As opposed to Jorge Andrade's own goal yesterday -- which would be nearly impossible to do intentionally -- I think Ibrahimovic could do that again maybe 4 out of 10 times.

And although it killed me as an Azzurri fan, it was a bit spectacular in its execution and timing. I'm now depressing myself.

My top 5 at the moment:
    Maniche v. HOL
    Baros v. HOL
    Tomasson v. SWE
    Scholes v. CRO
    van Nistelrooy v. GER

The Scholes goal is in there for the great build-up, the assist header by Rooney, and the scoring header itself was quite difficult.

That competition was not for "Euro 2004 Goal of the tournament" but for "What goal is the best out of these Euro 2004 Goals".

They will probally do another competition for goal of the tournament after the tournament has ended.

    OK?

Maniche's goal it was great.. It was only a shame no one could see it and shout goal live because of the replay.. I only could see the ball in the net.. And for me as a portuguese fan it would have been an extase to see that goal live.. Like Rui Costa's against England for example..

There have been quite a few nice goals.... i'd say for the top 5 (no order)

Owen v. Portugal..... running full speed and pulling a 180 like that is just disgusting
Maniche v. Holland.... what a perfect strike
Larsson v. Bulgaria.... any outstretched diving header like that deserves honors
Tommasson v. Sweden... what an outstanding volley
Heinz free kick ....... near post upper 90.. whoa

    Also,
2 of Rooney's goals.... the rip from outside the right side of the box that the goalie still got a hand on and still couldn't deflect and also his one-two breakaway from half field.
    And....
The Greece header vs. France... no one was on him during the header, but you cannot hit a ball with your head any better than that. Powerful and accurate.

Ibrahimovic was among the best goals. How is it overrated? I don't know what americans have against the Swedish team because eveyhting we do is bad. etc:

    1. Imbrahimovics goal was overrated

    2. We play a boring defensive game (but the truth is that we scored most goals in group play)

    3. Anders Frisk is a swedish bastard and a cheater

    Anything else to add?

"Milan" as your team fooled me. And you're missing out on Tuscany; it's one of my favorite places in the world.

LEPE covered the whys of the goal.

Stop saying Ibrahimovics goal was the best. thats the type of goal that only the person who scores it and his teamates or fans think is nice and wowed by it. If he gets called for a foul on Zambrotta, its never is a goal. If Vieri times his jump better on the line, it doesnt go in. A great goal is pure. It starts from a pass like a give and go. A great dribble through defenders. A perfectly hit ball that no keeper in the world could stop. A chip when noone expects it. A free kick that goes exactly where you know, if it goes in that spot of the goal, you bow your head because you know you cant do anything about it. A great goal is when for an instant your brilliance and skill has a whole team collectively at your mercy. Ibrahimovic was a fluke plain and simple. Yes he tried to backheel it but it was a scramble. It was desperation that came through for him. It was memorable not great.

OK, how about this: It was a great goal because it helped knock out the team that wouldn't press for a second goal and plays that dismal catenaccio style.

How about you watch the game again. They had plenty of opportunity to score a second goal. They went into what you call "dismal" catenaccio when their coach replaced attackers with defenders in the 70th minute. Learn to enjoy different styles of soccer the way they are played. You are to used to exciting highlight espn reels, end to end scoring. Soccer is a sport of many styles. Its amazing that a team that plays very conservatively reached the final but noone talks about that. Dont hate us because we are beautiful to watch. If you knew what soccer was about you would have witnessed probably the best 60 minutes of soccer in your life in that game. Instead you retort with your catenaccio comments. Learn the game my friend, you are missing more than you know.
