Yep you've summed it up yourself, they're both wingers, while he's a left back. But I guess all left backs in world football are able to crosses like that consistently, huh?

As a striker who's been clinical in SerieA and the Champions League, that statement is ludicrous.

Hmmmm, "Chelsea have told striker Hernan Crespo he has no future at Stamford Bridge. The Sun says the 16.8 million pound flop is distraught after being given the elbow by new Blues boss Jose Mourinho and then seeing the collapse of a proposed move to Real Madrid. Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa is so dismayed by Crespo's attitude he has ordered him to take a week off from their CopaAmerica training camp". (end quote).

Wow Nicephoras, what a "great" striker you boast about.

Whooooooosh! The point being, it was a bad cross. He balooned the ball up in the air. If Zidane wasn't Zidane, that's not a goal.

Oh yes, the Sun. I believe they have Batboy going to Real Madrid, only because Mars FC couldn't pony up the cash. I believe them all the way.

I seem to recall a horrendous error by Roberto Carlos that gifted Denmark a goal in WC '98. Point is, if you are basing an opinion on one play everybody looks bad occasionally.

Whoa there, having a error vs. Denmark when everyone says you're a crappy defender, and yet the team still won. And that's to be compared to someone who got shown the door by some nameless never-heard-of-before S.korean? Mindboggling.

Wooooooosh! The point being, it was a bad cross. He ballooned (correct spelling) the ball up in the air. If Zidane wasn't Zidane, that's not a goal. If Roberto Carlos is Italian that's also not a goal because he doesn't even cross half field line to track down and retrieve that ball, he sits in his own end.

How true! With another left back and Zidane (or even Pele) in the side that is never a goal. Thank goodness RC was not born in Italy. We would have lost out on innumerable magical moments on the football field.

I would say it's definitely Thierry Henry. He is a good player, no doubt, but deeming him as the best in the world is ludicrous. So much hype about him(and frankly I'm sick of it) yet he doesn't deliver on the international stage AGAIN! He is not legend material, he is an excellent EPL player and that's probably it.

Some of the excuses I've heard were really pathetic! Like his play doesn't go along with Zidane's. If u were supposed to be that football God everyone claims u are, shouldn't u be just a tad bit versatile? able to play with whoever and whenever?? Plus don't blame Zidane for being obviously the better player who can run the show. Henry was a mere squad member like in the previous World Cups and Euro. While France is Zidane.

A close second would be Beckham.

I have to agree about Henry. Super player he is but world's best?? Fine being superb against the likes of Pompey and Leeds but he has yet to set the Champions League or major International tournament on fire.

First, he's not ON Argentina's payroll.
Second - where's the proof Chelsea unhappy with him? The Sun? That's not proof. That's groundless speculation.

Watch some Paolo Maldini tapes. Apparently you never saw the great Milan teams of the late 80s early 90s. Too bad.

Yes. Roberto Baggio, Rossi and del Piero haven't contributed any magic to the world. How right you are.
Say - don't you have to go support both Real and Barca now?

And just to end all this beckham hating, isnt a good player defined by how well he does his job? Beckham's job is to provide good passing and good crossing. Like someone else said, beckham is deemed to be "overrated" because of the media attention he gets. In the sense of doing his job which denotes a good player beckham is very good and cant be defined as overrated.

And yet he has 9 career goals against Man U, (as opposed to van Nistelrooy's 1 goal EVER against Arsenal), 7 goals against Chelsea, & 10 goals against Liverpool.

Never mind the opposition he has scored against in Europe & also being the 4th highest goalscorer in CL history. This "but he only scores against crap teams" 'argument' is the biggest load of bollocks i've seen.

How can people say Henry is overated? He practaly won the league this year for Arsenal. He may not have won a CL yet but he does have a WC and EC. Just because he hasn't played that well for france since WC98 does that make him overated? NO. George Best, many people would bite your head off for saying he was overated and yet he never played anything more than qualifiers for Northern Ireland and no mahor international honours? Does this make him a bad player? No. Does this mean he's overated? Definatly not.

Henry does his job which is scores goals and I bet any Arsenal fan won't give a flying sh1t if he never scores again for France as long as he keeps scoring for Arsenal.

It's the same with Beckham and Crespo, did Real Madrid and Chelsea simply buy them because the look nice or have the entire Naked Gun Collection on DVD? NO they signed them because they are good players.

If you are looking for overated players try Freddy Adu, he's had a couple of games in the MLS which is the equiverlant to the Bulgaria over 80's women league. Or all the amazing Korean or ****** players who had an ok WC (all be it avery very very lucky one) but were suppost to be storming europes top leagues. Just wait untill the end or Euro 04 and see how many Greek, Portuguese and Czech players get signed upor linked with big clubs and hailed as "great players".

Henry is overrated because some hapless fools believe him to be one of the greatest players of all time. In a recent BBC poll Henry was rated as the 4th greatest European player of all time, when he barely merits a place in the top 50-100. To further prove the worthlessness of this poll Zidane was voted top.

The whole point of this is not whether a player is good or not, but whether people's opinion of them is not in proportion to their ability.

I wish there were more Baggios in Italy. Somehow, no one stifled him out of hs creativity.

BTW as I have said before, your vexatious and relentless pecking will never prevent me from supporting whoever I want to support. So skip it and vamoose.
