probably pretty close. We could see Tierney start over alston. Barrett or Imbongo over Fagundez but the rest is probably right

Not screaming so much, but throwing his arms up and making faces whenever his guys got whistled on fairly obvious fouls (and while his team was getting away with lots of borderline stuff).

I liked the guy too, until we've had to face his cynical tactics since he dropped down to coach.

    --------

    I think it will be:

    --------------- Barrett ---------
    ---------------- Toja ----------
    - Nguyen ------------------ Caldwell -
    ------- Dorman ---- Cisse ------
    -- Alston -- Soares -- Goncalves -- Farrell --
    ----------------- Reis -------------------

I think Caldwell and Dorman impressed enough to earn starts (or at least I hope so).

And, it hasn't really been mentioned, but Barrett did pretty well in the short time he was in. He made some nice plays and no real blunders/squanders.

My fault. That 's my XI because I was assuming both Cisse and Simms can't go. Anyway, KC is a physical team and Farrell so far is an excellent ball winner and defender. Therefore I would like to play Farrell as a DM. Duckett as a RB because he 's very impressed during the preseason games and he actually can provide crosses in the box.

I would not mind seeing this. I doubt heaps does not start Simms if healthy but this would be an interesting look. I like Rowe but I think I like him better coming off the bench

Minor point but the revs beat DC in their home opener in 1996, not NY/NJ RedMetroCowStars

Well, they bean the MetroFilth 1-0 in their second game, the week before in NJ, on an own goal by their Serie A allocated player Nicola Caricola. Good times, good times!

Michael Parkhurst was also at that first home game ever, but he was only 10, so the fact that he doesn't remember a lot is OK.

Revs have updated their Injury Report - Cisse and Reis are still questionable due to their issues last week. Simms has been added to the questionable list with "hamstring tightness."

Ya. I'm frustrated I can't go because of a commitment I can't get out of. Next week is my home opener.

Purely from memory...I was 14 years old.
Cold, damp night in April. Good crowd. Frank Stapleton dourly pacing the sidelines. Rob Ukrop (I think?) with another goal after his 2 goal performance in the opener @ Tampa.

Sawatsky with the winner. It was a come back by the revs. 20 minute delay for the TV broadcast.

Sigh. The days before the modern Boston area soccer market was apathetically de-flowered and tainted forever.
[Insert rueful "those were the days" comment from Tom Hill and rant from RevsFanDan here..:)]

Yup, shame it was in the Meadowlands. But wow... Paul Keegan, Rob Ukrop, John Debrito, Peter Woodring... Welton... talk about a long time ago.

It's symbolic for the anticipated amount of goals and opportunities most of us expect to see in this one. ;)

KO and I actually agree - this will be a scoreless snoozer.

Keegs and Welton come up periodically but Debrito and Woodring are names I haven't heard in literally 17 years. Wonder what Jim St. Andre or Geoff Aunger are up to these days?

Thanks for posting that clip, Mike. Yes, some things never get old, although it has been a while since I last saw that.

Far from the "good old days," that clip showed a lot of what was flat-out wrong with the game then. Not that you'll catch me feeling sorry for that sorry excuse for a team in Jersey, but it's bad enough to give up an own goal in the waining seconds, but the game was over at that point. Literally. Not that you expect much to happen, but at least today the team would be given the chance to mount one last attempt.

Like a lot of people, I hated the shootout, but the whole clock management thing pissed me off even more. I remember one game where a team had a dangerous FK, with a chance to tie/win the game with a goal. The defending team stalled and delayed, standing over the ball, etc. to eat up the last 20 seconds or so, and they never got to take the FK. Absolutely disgraceful!

Anyway, back on topic, but if Reis and Cisse are out, I can't see us winning this one. 1-0 to the bad guys, and to add salt to the wound, Benny is involved in the winning goal.
