The US beat Portugal because Portugal played bad and the US played their best soccer. I don't think that there is any comparison between the two teams, Portugal has the best defense, the best midfield and the best strikers if compared head to head against the US. And I challenge you to tell me if there is any US central defender like Ricardo Carvalho, any midfielder like Maniche or Deco or Costinha, any winger like Figo or C Ronaldo, any subs like Rui Costa or Couto. That's why we are in the finals right now, because this is the best team ever in portuguese soccer history. I think that you should remember beating us in 2002. Because in a few days you can say "yeah, the US in 2002 beat the European Cup winners". Why that makes you feel good, beats the hell out of me.
You can have all that talent... but your finishing skills suck up top... and i think you've forgotten that the best goalies in the world... right here in the united states...

I wonder why people in this forum dislike Portugal so much. We can't help it if we win games...should we feel bad for sending Spain home earlier? And England? And Holland? I don't think so... About the divings...I dislike it myself...but you'd see if Holland was winning...if their players wouldn't have done the same thing. Indeed, 2004 can turn out to be a great year for Portugal. The Champions League for FC Porto and the Euro Cup for Portugal.

Excuse me? Brad Friedel? He's good but world class? Sorry, world class is Buffon and you cannot tell me he's even near Buffon's league. Tim Howard? Not bad but nothing near world class. Ask any Man Utd fan what they think of him. Kasey Keller? He's good but... world class? Zach Thornton, he plays in 3rd division in Benfica here in Portugal, not a bad GK but still nothing near world class. Compare all of them to Buffon and you have your answer. But still I am glad you rate your goalies so highly. You really need them with that defense you've got. Maybe that's why they're so good, they get tested so many times. And as for finishing, you only notice that because we create so many clear goalscoring opportunities. And when I mean clear I mean 1 to 1 with the goalie. Just check out these last few matches and you know what I mean. And when you create 10 opportunites like that, you're bound to score on 1 of them. Who cares if we don't score on all of them, I just need them to score 1 more goal than the other team to win and I'm happy.
I don't like or deslike any of the two teams (prt or holl) it should not be a surprise that portugal has finally put it together. porto last year's eufa champs and this year's champions league champs and now thy have a good shot at the euro2004 championship......good for them they deserve it.
