CONFIRMED! St. Louis Ambush return to the MISL for the 2013-14 season. Daryl Doran will be the head coach. In my opinion the only downside is that they will be playing at The Family Arena in St. Charles and not in downtown St. Louis. If any of you will remember, that is the same arena that was home to the first Steamers (WISL) comeback that failed pretty badly. They fared much better when they moved downtown (minus the Lindsey Kennedy and Reality TV nonsense)...oh well, I'll make the long drive and pay the expensive parking anyway. Indoor soccer and the teal and black are back baby!
That all sounds good.....BUT.....let's put the brakes on for a bit. NOTHING has been confirmed from the MISL. The "potential" ownership group has not formed the LLC yet and has NOT applied to the league yet. So therefore NOTHING is confirmed. However, things are very close to happening. The LLC should be formed very soon... and shortly after, the group will apply to the MISL. And yes, Daryl Doran has been contacted about coaching the team......but until the team is "official", nothing is for sure. Let's just hope and pray that the group is able to wrap things up soon and we have MISL soccer back in St. Louis come November.
This is great news for the MISL if they picked out a arena i am sure they have at least had conversations with the League . I wonder is they will be at the MISL championship with the rest of the League and Team owners if i see anyone with them ill get some photos
An LLC can be formed for under $500 if you do it yourself using a template. An average lawyer (which means they have the morals, acumen and attributes of a SNAKE in my humble opinion), but an average lawyer can draw one up for under 5k. These people would be NUTS to do anything if they don't have an LLC, a partnership or sole proprietorship set up first. This is not a tall order, they should have this first before, long before they start hiring people, getting people on board, internet rumors etc.
There is nothing to 'set up' for a sole proprietorship. Registering a ficticious name in most states can be done online in less than a half hour. You don't even have to get a federal EIN if you don't want to. The EIN takes a grand five minutes to get. A partnership or sole proprietorship isn't a smart way to organize a business, the only way to go is a corporation or LLC. Neither of those takes a tremendous amount of time or money to set up.
Another go for indoor in STL? Idiots! I'll go and enjoy some soccer for the two seasons they play. The Family Arena is the graveyard of failed 2nd tier sports.
Quayle: Rent at Scottrade Center in Downtown St. Louis is roughly $20k per game. Financially, the Family Arena is the 1 arena in St. Louis where the team has a chance to make it with a favorable lease (low rent) and good dates. If the new pro indoor football team can selll 1000 season tickets, and they're in a lower league than the AFL, I would think a new MISL team could do well at the Family Arena, as long as the team spends some money advertising.
"as long as the team spends some money advertising" That is the key... BUT are these new "owners" serious investors with DEEP, DEEP.... VERY DEEP POCKETS? Doctors, Lawyers, Real Estate Moguls,Investment Bankers etc... OR is it Daryl Doran just not being able to let go? Maybe trying to recruit Jamie and Joe to pony up some cash. Look at Tanner and Syracuse...although I don't know his financial status (I'd say a blue collar guy not rich by any means) he seems to just scrape by and tries to break even every year.. very tight budget. Sooner or later the losses will be too much to handle KC should be the model franchise in today's indoor world. Everything they seem to do is top notch professional... and looks like it pays off with their corporate sponsors they bring in (which is the only way any team can make it)
Syracuse claimed $100,000 loss the first year, which would be way low and would mean they'd do better than most. I can't believe they lost that little. They do appear to have it going on in Missouri. And sponsors are a lot easier to bring in when you sell lots of tickets. And the Comets have filled a higher percentage of seats than most.
Apparently they are adding a CHL team also in this building Tenants Missouri River Otters (UHL) (1999–2006) River City Rage (IPFL/NIFL/UIF/IFL) (2001-2005/2007-2009) St. Louis Steamers (WISL, MISL II) (2000–2001; 2003–2004) St. Charles Chill (CHL) (2013-Future) Missouri Monsters (UIFL) (2013-Future)
Should be 03-04, shouldn't it? They moved downtown for 04-05 and 05-06 and that was that. Don't know that they drew that well in the WISL in St. Charles. Would have to check.
Yeah. They did a little better at re-launch in the WISL than I thought. http://www.kenn.com/the_blog/?page_id=4393
I might have been at their first game now that I think back. Then I was at the last Freezz game ever which was in St. Louis. If the Freezz won that one they would have made the playoffs and I got to watch that one from the bench.
Why dont the MISL look in to having something placed in side the ball so that when the ball crosses the line a alarm would go off . Im now sure whow expensive it would be but it could slove the issue
I noticed that the new Indy franchise in the NASL has received over 2,000 season ticket deposits, and the team doesn't even begin play until 2014. It helps to take the time to lay the groundwork for a successful new franchise.
Peter Wilt is the President of the Indy NASL team, and I'm very happy that he got this opportunity and is doing so much with it. I really hope that eventually Indy gets an MLS team with Peter at the helm. But of course they need to take one step at a time. I believe that the Milwaukee Wave hired Peter to be its team President in September 2009, about two months before the season began. When things didn't miraculously improve at the gate for the Wave in 2009-10, Peter was assigned to run the Chicago Riot the next season. The Riot franchise wasn't even announced until five weeks prior to the start of the 2010-11 season, which was its first and only season. I think Peter is showing now that when he has the time and resources to lay the groundwork for a successful franchise, he comes through big. But indoor soccer franchises often don't have the time and resources to really lay the groundwork for success, and in any event, it's difficult to do even if the team does have the time and resources.
Find a successful money maker associated with Peter Wilt...I can't find one, can you? Milwaukee is better off without his high salary.
