Ah, what the heck. Let's do this! Who: FC Dallas v. Houston Dynamo When: Sunday, March 17 @ 12:00 PM CDT Where: FC Dallas Stadium, Frisco, TX Records: FC Dallas (1-0-1) 3 PTS, 5th place in WEST Houston Dynamo (1-0-0) 3 PTS, 5th in EAST TV: ESPN2 Radio: 1560/850 The Dynamo defeated FCD, 2-1, in their only meeting last year in Houston on June 16. That win meant the Orange kept El Capitan for another year. This year's single league game will determine ownership of the cannon if there is a victory for either team. A draw would mean that tie-breakers could come into play if the two teams would meet in the MLS Cup or the Open Cup. If that doesn't happen then the Holder keeps the cannon. So far this year Dallas has a win at home versus Colorado and a loss at Chivas USA. They have scored 2 and allowed 3 in those games. Last year they were 6-3-8 at home with 21 goals scored and 16 allowed. FCD's next game will be on March 23 when RSL travels to Frisco. This is the first road league game for the Dynamo this year. Last year Houston was 3-9-5 on the road with a -12 goal difference. Houston hosts Vancouver next on March 23.
Houston @ FCD, all-time: 05/13/06 FCD 1-1 HOU 09/02/06 FCD 1-0 HOU 06/30/07 FCD 0-0 HOU 09/30/07 FCD 0-3 HOU 10/27/07 FCD 1-0 HOU, MLS Playoffs 05/28/08 FCD 2-2 HOU 06/13/09 FCD 1-3 HOU 08/06/09 FCD 1-0 HOU 03/27/10 FCD 1-1 HOU 09/24/11 FCD 0-1 HOU That's 3-3-4 with 11 goals scored and 8 allowed. El Capitan Series: 2006 Dynamo 2-1-1 2007 Dynamo 3-01 2008 FC Dallas 0-0-3 2009 Dynamo 2-1-0 2010 FC Dallas 1-0-1 2011 Dynamo 1-0-1 2012 Dynamo 1-0-0
As I pointed out in the original post that isn't 100% true. A tie could be broken if we meet again later in the MLS Cup or the Open Cup.
Yeah but I don't think the Frisco Waldos have enough to make it to the Cup Final, let alone make the postseason. As for the USOC, those damn Scorpions from San Antonio might spoil a potential 2nd clash for El Capitan's cannon.
The email confirmation that you received after buying your tickets includes this bit: Anyone heard anything yet from the Dynamo front office?
One person from our SG is getting all our tickets and delivering them to us. I'd call the FO and see how to get yours.
You know I want to hate FC Dallas, I really do. But I'm more indifferent to them than anything. They're just so vanilla. The half empty stadium. The upside down Houston Texans logo. The generic name change. It's like old sitcoms when you'd see a can on the table that looked like Miller Lite, but would have "Beer" written across it in the same font. Mmm, tastes like nothing. I guess playing in the west again would help. Sure there's the cannon, but really, they need to have some sort of success before I can hate them. When Ortiz tweets about how he respects FC Dallas, that's when they'll get my hatred.
Weather forecast for Frisco, TX on Sunday. Noon: 70F, 64% humidity Partly Cloudy, 10% chance of precipitation Looking pretty good.
twitter kept talking about a rivalry video? finally found it, i don't mind it, i enjoy silly -ish. http://www.fcdallas.com/video/2013/03/12/crush-orange-2013 the texas derby banner at the top is pretty awesome looking too.
The Dallas FO snuck in an AYSO commercial performed by their own men apparently. Once again, owning someone in their own house is very rare in professional sports. Houston Dynamo and it's fans can say they have seen the top of the mountain. And it is good.
There's another one showing highlights from last year and their supporters leaving the stands at BBVA with the tag line something like "ruin their trip to Frisco in 2013!" Whatever. I don't have the link. The series between FCD and Houston is actually fairly equal, it just seems like a) we win the big games and b) we have more fun at the games, win or lose, than they do. Also, the weather is looking pretty good, but I'm afraid it might be really windy. Remember the next to last time (I think) when we were there, you could hardly stand in the parking lot. That sucked. Flags had a very hard time.
I just talked to my service rep a few minutes ago. She said they had no idea why WePay included in their confirmation email that note about the Dynamo FO coordinating ticket delivery. She told me tickets (for non-SG members) will indeed be at Will Call, as the note at the site above indicates.
I'm glad the post CCCL game is against a team we "have" to beat. If we were going to Chicago or Philly I feel like we'd be unmotivated and defocused, but against Dallas the team should come in to win.
I got me a snare for days like these and I'm going to Dalla**, but... ...where in Houston can I get a harness/belt to hold the snare? Halp.
Just heard a report that Houston supporters are banned from drums at Frisco this Sunday. Also, the Reserve game will not be open to the public at all. Stay tuned for updates.
