Yeah, the contestant answered "What is the Revolution?" Someone on reddit said that the same contestant answered an Aresenal question later in the show. http://www.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/19y0n9/mls_on_todays_jeopardy/
Positives: We were on Jeopardy - super cool! Negatives: We are such an unknown to mainstream American society that we are a Jeopardy question. My only hope is that we were a $100 question The organization absolutely ate this up. I saw 2 official twitter posts about this. I'm fairly certain that the big 4 major league outfits in New England wouldn't bat an eye. (They also wouldn't be questions )
Given the way that the answer is written, this was probably a $200 or $400 clue in the first round or a $400 clue in the second round. I was unemployed and living at home for a few months recently, so I watched a lot of Jeopardy. If that's the case, they would join other such obscure, unheard of entities like Joe DiMaggio, George Washington, and the Washington Redskins as easy clues.
I have jeopardy pretty frequently and yes they have been questions about each team at some point over the last 15 years.
The category was pro sports teams, and while I don't remember the "answers" I remember that the "questions" were (from cheapest to most expensive "question") Milwaukee Brewers, Arsenal, Oklahoma City Thunder, the Revs and Winnipeg Jets. So we were a more expensive (i.e., harder) question, but it is good for the league that a show like Jeopardy would include MLS alongisde MLB, EPL, NBA and NHL. As for the org eating it up, no wonder. It is the most public exposure the Revs have gotten since the naked guy on the plane.
I caught this too. I wonder if a soccer fan recently joined the clue writing team, because I've seen Manchester United and Real Madrid as "answers" in the past few week as well.
Suffice to say, we are a major player in the sports world. Well that just turned my frown upside down.
