RIP Bob Hobbs, CanadaGooner. Absolutely stunned that you are gone. A huge part of my Arsenal family, my roommate on roadtrips and preseasons, and a friend to all in our bigsoccer and Arsenal family. you will be incredibly missed. much love. xxx. Nick
Very sad to hear. A gentleman. Showed me and my wife around Highbury my first time there. Will always remember the kindness he showed us.
One of ArsenalAmerica's oldest members despite being a Canadian and probably the first person I met on our very first roadtrip since he was so easily identifiable by the always present Arsenal gear he was wearing. Was a great fan and a nice man to all of the Gooner's he met. He told me when he was younger he used to anxiously await the arrival of the newspapers from the UK in Canada and would pore over the details of the matches already a few days old, reliving as much as he could in a day before live TV of all the games. He will be missed and I know he'll be watching over the team today.
Just thinking about how much time i've spent with Bob over the last 8 years. The road trip to London, two trips to Bad Waltersdorf, the CL Final, visiting him in Toronto, and most recently seeing him at Rick's wedding in Cancun. It's like losing a family member.
RIP Bob, you will be missed. We met over a decade ago on my first trip to Highbury. A true gentleman and a Gooner, you will be missed.
Agreed JP - from the first time I met him an absolute gentleman. Spent so much time with him going back and forth in Austria, Hungry and many games in England. Was great to visit him in Toronto with antifan in 2009 and then last saw him at my wedding. A huge loss of a great Gooner. I raised a pint at half time today for him.
Bob it was an Honour to have known you mate, never thought that when we had our drink last year it would be the last time we'd do it.You'll leave a huge hole in our family. Sleep well my friend Uploaded with ImageShack.us
He was with us at the last Highbury game against Wigan and was with us in Paris for the Champions League Final as well as many other games. A man with a great sense of humour. RIP Bob
Toronto authorities and friends of Bob are having some difficultly contacting his family who no longer live in Canada. If you have any information about his family, please come over to his Facebook page and get in touch with those who are currently assisting in this effort. https://www.facebook.com/cdngunnerbob
I never had the opportunity to meet Bob in person. We'll certainly miss him here; best to his family and friends. Hope the Arsenal win in Munich for Bob.
Bob. First of all, I do not know really quite what to say. I will always remember you in BW and in the last year, our own trip to Budapest and Bratislava. I am so glad that I got to see you again last season when you sat with me at a C /League game. You showed your friendship and help to me in BW when my mother died when we were driving to Maribor. You were well loved and respected by many a Gooner and your departure far too early was a shock and tragedy to all. RIP my friend. You are sadly missed.
hello all. Several of us are going to all chip in and get one of the big North Bank stones in memory of Bob. Some of you have already posted on my facebook wall that you want to pitch in, which is great. If you aren't friends with me on facebook, but still want to contribute, please reply to this post. Cheers.
For those that may not have seen this tribute. http://www.arsenalamerica.com/2013/04/05/remembering-our-friend-bob-hobbs/ Thanks Nick. I'll talk to the boys next week, and find out if I should give them my contribution... .......'coz I'm still not doing the Facebook thingy.
