He played midfield iirc. That was so long ago though, I highly doubt he could hold his own at the MLS level now.
That actually happened in a preseason game a few years back. They had to play Rimando in the midfield for the last few minutes of the game because of an injury to a player.
For those wondering about Findley, he said yesterday during On Frame that he's not expected to miss any time in the regular season. He's going down to AZ with the team this week and is expected to be a full participant.
I think that's a pretty solid lineup, but I think it's risky playing without a keeper. Maybe when we're down to 10 men, then we can bring the keeper out in order to play more aggressive on offense. But even then... I don't know...
It'll be like hockey when you're down a goal at the end of the game and pull the keeper for an extra attacker. Only we'll be doing it all game.
They actually had regular Rimando game jerseys (non-goalie) in the store after the end of last season. I picked it up just for the novelty. I saw the Unsacred Brewing folks were giving one away a few weeks ago too. So pay attention when the store indicates 'player game jerseys' to catch one.
RSL evolve as Schuler, Watson-Siriboe claim starting jobs mlssoccer.com “Camp has been pretty tough,” Watson-Siriboe told MLSsoccer.com by phone from Carson, Calif., following the game. “We haven’t been as sharp as we would like, especially defensively. We’ve given up too much in our other games, but I think things are getting better and better. “Hopefully, this can be the turning point to the camp, the preseason. Maybe we can use this as a starting point to really come together as a defense.”
Pachuca Missed Out on Beckerman Pachuca have admitted to failing in a move for Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman... flashback: 2011 Pachuca: We Tried to Get Beckerman “He’s a very good player in the middle of the field, better quality than most we have here in Mexico,” said Westerhof. “We asked about him. But unfortunately we weren’t able to bring him. His team was not interested in losing him.”
Managing on the cheap would have sold KB and but Alvarez into the starting lineup. Just sayin' Wonder what they offered...
Also, unlikely right? I am thinking no (Article speculates about who Silvestre is trialing with in AZ). http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/11/news-aplenty-from-today-from-portland-timbers-camp/
Unlikely doesn't even start to describe it. There's no way. Big cap hit for an old, slow, error-prone defender? No — a million times over.
Silvestre is with Seattle...and I wasn't suggesting he was or should be with RSL, was just surfacing the speculation and saying "doubt it's us".
Wait - you didn't hear news that he's the hot winger we've signed! The FO decided to go a new direction, that experience is underrated, euro hand-me-downs are far better than those cheap guys from down south, and defenders hang around goals a lot, so... See - all the whining about forwards could be about something much worse!
Right — I'm saying that if it's us, I'll eat 15 hats. The fervor's not aimed at you, of course, but at Silvestre.
What kind of hats are we talking here? Straw hats? Cowboy hats? Flat brim hats? Pre-used hats? There's a lot to consider in this wager...
Now you're just talking crazy. If he has any cavities, eating 15 hats is going to kill him! How painful do you want this to be?
We all know who the new forward is going to be. RSL is probably making a run at Golden Boy Indra Sahdan Daud. I expect the DeseretNews online traffic to spike in Singapore any day.
A couple of stories from MLSSoccer.com this morning: Robbie Findley - good times are here again with return to RSL Alvaro Saborio trains with RSL for first time in 2013
