We have sources within RSL. However, we don't have sources within the Department of State, which is where this thing is currently being held up (well, maybe KIR does but I don't). So no, neither of us know when there's going to be an announcement.
You're tired of hearing it? This is an entertainment business and the fans pay a lot of money to be entertained. We are ALL sick of hearing it.
Re: Findley... imagine his name wasn't Findley... imagine it was say, for instance, 'Deuchar'. We'd be bubbling with excitement! We had a bonafide striker from a second tier league in Europe! Surely that is good enough to excel in MLS! Notwithstanding Deuchar's ultimate lack of production, if he were anyone but Robbie who played for us years ago, we'd be a pumped crew of fans.
And apparently satisfied with the way things are. He tells a news reporter on a one on one basis that yes we are going to have more goals but recent signings or lack there of contradict that. Prove me paranoid Plata, Findley & mystery striker.
Findley was hardly a bonafied striker from a second tier league in Europe. He was bonafied failure at a second tier league in Europe. I do hope this move home can jump start his career, from what I have read he was struggling at fith tier Gillingham for minutes.
Oh the humanity. Yes I have an opinion. I do have a good idea who mystery #2 could be. I hope I'm completely wrong, but I don't think we are talking large transfers or DP here, and thats what I least got from Hansen. We'll see.
I understand he is a young player right now, but in your opinion is he capable of becoming the #1 option a few years down the road when Sabo is gone? Is he even a part of Real's long term plan?
Wow, that is extra cynical. I don't think we've stooped quite to bottom feeding just yet - we've only gotten one player out of the TFC and Chivas fire sales...
Whoa! The debby downers are out in droves on the RSL boards this morning. I won't mention any names. Happy Monday!
Again, you're assigning a timeframe to Hansen's comments when he did not offer one. The answers to your questions are (1) it depends on how he develops, and (2) definitely.
Judging by RSL's cautiousness and the logic they've shared on their strategy for success (i.e. multi-year runs at hardware), I'd be shocked if they'd be investing the time and resources for someone that didn't have long term possibilities.
IMO Findley's production in MLS is more relevant to what we can expect than his time in the UK. I am convinced he can do what he did before - at least - and help us. I don't mean 12 goals, but I do mean helping us as a super sub and stretching the field and scoring/assisting in the process.
That's exactly what Real Salt Lake is hoping. If he was a player that had an extremely good chance of this, he'd cost a million bucks (or more). Most young players coming into MLS are going to be more about potential than actual realized capability.
So he spends a couple years at RSL developes into a valuable comodity then goes to Randers on a free transfer?
