I knew he missed some time from injuries and stuff. I saw him at RB a few times and just assumed DeLeon won the spot.I thought DeLeon was an upgrade, and he's nowhere near as good as Pontius. Maybe journeyman isnt' the right word, but I wouldn't put him too much higher. I guess in the end my point is that MLS seems to be churning out a lot of talent, and probably isn't getting the credit it deserves from a lot of people.
Def. Not. I am a DCU fan. Olsen just taught him, if you leave, just because you're talented... if there is a guy who's hot.. .he's in over you because you've been gone. He had to come back on as a sub, and when he did... he didn't play as well in past seasons. Journeyman? Def. not.
Anderlecht defeat 3rd place Lokeren 2-0 on the road today. Kljestan played the full 90 minutes as usual.
Highlights: Kljestan forces the turnover that starts the sequence leading to the first goal (3:20). Anderlecht have the first leg of their cup semifinal at home against Genk on Wednesday.
At this point, it's all academic. Even with the play-offs, I cannot see any other team challenge them seriously for the title. All of their rivals have been far too hit and miss, and I don't see any of them turning it around in time to be a real factor in the title race. The only team they can still lose the title to at this point is themselves.
It's looks like Andy Najar is going to be joining permanently at Anderlecht: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs.../d-c-united-selling-andy-najar-to-anderlecht/ Najar would become MLS’s first homegrown academy player to make a permanent move to Europe.
Andy's got jets, something you won't see in Belgium often. I wouldn't be surprised if he had started as a fullback but made a transition forward at some point. Or played an attacking type fullback a la Dani Alves.
Did Najar eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever get his US passport? I know we talked about it ad naseum when we were hoping that he'd represent the US, but I've never heard a resolution about it. If he still doesn't have it, it just goes to show that the proess can take a lot longer than most of us imagine.
Kljestan was not in the squad today as Anderlecht won the first leg of the cup semifinal 1-0 at home against Genk. Demy de Zeuw made his Anderlecht debut and was subbed off after 52 minutes. Anderlecht host 4th place Standard Liege on Sunday.
Some on SBI was mentioning that Anderlecht was dropping 3million for him. But that seems a bit too much for a Belgian team to be spending on a player but then again Najar might be a much cheaper option being in MLS
I don't think it's that much... but there's that... and DCU are getting an undisclosed amount of the transfer amount if he moves to a bigger team than Anderlecht.
Even if Najar isn't a US citizen (he played for Honduras in the Olympics so he's gone), I look forward to watching him and Sacha playing together. Not really familiar with the team, will he likely be competing with Klestjan in the midfield or moving back to RB like he had started to do for DCU?
It's a WaPo number, "according to its sources" Let's see what our Belgian friends report. Ah, found it! http://www.nieuwsblad.be/sportwereld/cnt/DMF20130130_00452060
