I say add another 200 elite troops or so to the 3500 going to Iraq to hunt down these extremists. A force sorely dedicated to take action against those who kill Korean civilians.

Korea has a elite group of special forces; with the right intel from the Americans and others they should be Korea's version of Task Force 121.

Those abductors lost a little bit of their humanity today, killing a fellow human being who was begging for his life. While I have strong objections to the American campaign in Iraq, I cannot imagine what noble cause would justify killing some innocent person in cold blood. Mr. Kim, may you find peace.

My wife says he was just 32 years old and working for a cable company to better the lives of Iraqis. I don't think the whole country is worth his life, let alone the billions of dollars and thousands of other lives expended to bring these ignorant savages into the 21st Century.

What exactly are these idiots trying to accomplish by these acts of subhuman violence? Do they really think they're doing Islam and the Arab people a favor by murdering civilians? Do they consider this and the other murders some sort of victory? Great, one more dead for Allah, one more proud terrorist feels like a man...until he goes back to being neutered by the Israelis, Americans, and now the Koreans. Ah, that murder didn't really do much after all. You're still eating dirt and watching your kids die for a stupid cause.

I don't want to hear that Kim Sun Il "shouldn't have been there." If it weren't for people like him with the guts to go to places like iraq we would never have progress. Sure, I'm sure Kim went there to make money - even if it is the only reason - but the Iraqi people could have benefited from his presence just as much as he did. We all have foreigners living among us, and we can all whine about how they're just here to take advantage us or make money, or we can learn and benefit from them.

Now that that's off my chest, i second dcunited4life's sentiment: here's to a fellow Korean who cheered alongside us two years ago. Furthermore, here is a belated acknowledgement of Berg, Johnson, Pearl, and everyone else who shared this fate. RIP.

What a sad and barbaric act. Their action emphasizes why we need to stand stronger and not run for the hills (a la Spain).

It's a terrible loss of life. I guess attacking soliders wasn't having the desired results. I'm glad to see Korean courage will remain strong.

    Look guys,
There's obviously only one reason why Hamachaji comes in sniffing and poking around on the Korean board. Don't be dumb enough to get all bent out of shape, thus indulging the unfortunate lad.

if korean troops pull out now, it will set a bad example. they think it will work, and kill more and more innocent helpers.

korea needs to stay firm and take retaliative actions. send in more money and supplies.

If you truly believe that your cause is the one and only true cause if you truly believe that a universal right-being (or god) is on your side... you will rip your enemies to shreds without the least bit of remorse. Being angry helps.

On one hand I fully agree that it's a barbaric act. But if you are totally honest (which is probably the hardest thing a human can do)... the only difference between cutting a man's head off and killing 150 innocent people to get 3 badguys by pushing a button is that the first takes a certain conviction and the second does not. One can argue about what deserves more respect (as if... I know). But one thing you can't argue about is that the headcutters at least stand for all they do whereas the button pushers fly away laughing, comforted by the human ability to wave away what he doesn't see as not being there.

Having said that I can assure you I'm shocked as much as any of you and my first feeling is why not nuke those phucks right of this planet?

It's this arrogant and incredibly ignorant world view that has caused all this sh!t in the first place. People will be trying to bomb the sh!t out of us until we come to terms with who we, western world, really are.

The words "pointless" and "meaningless" aren't strong enough to convey how absolutely beyond comprehension acts such as this are.

The images of his family grieving--like those of the Berg and Johnson families--broke my heart.

No, he wasn't "working for a cable company," he worked for a South Korean defense contractor as an interpreter.

    http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/06/22/skorean.hostage/index.html

The South Korean government confirmed Iraqi insurgents had executed the 33-year-old Arabic-language translator. He had been working in Iraq for the past year for a South Korean firm supplying goods to the U.S. military.

The death of this Korean man is tragic. however i find it hard to condemn a people who see their country being raped and pillaged by 'western' forces and there isn't a damn thing they can do about it.

What on earth is the South Korean government doing sending her service men and women to Iraq. All it will achieve will be to alienate the Iraqi people even more.

Get out Korea! ditto for the oval office imperialists....

Why in the world do you try to get sense out of armchair revolutionaries like AFCA?

Guys like AFCA (or Silvio Dante) should consider an eventual cell in Gitmo a stretch goal.

I take it thaty Stretch goal' is some american jock term that doesn't really interest me. Fact is your Government has invaded Iraq and is systematically raping her of her resources. Must make you so proud...
