One of my students sent me this several years ago and said it reminded him of me - making family life look cool when none of the trappings seemed to be. I appreciated that! On another topic, I absolutely hate the AT&T "Bigger is Better" commercials which take groups of four kids and make them look annoying as all get out when I *think* they're trying to make them look cute. Grrr.
Ok... This narrows it down somewhat... It's gotta be Balotelli - that bust up with Mancini was when Balotelli told him where he was going - he kept muttering something as he tried to throw Balotelli to the ground... "Ungrateful... SOB... Salt Lake City... Damn Mormons..." (But it was in Italian and I don't speak it, so i could be wrong)
I'm glad were getting the boring signings out of the way early we needed depth at defense after we lost Olave We needed another GK as I doubt Lalo is ready to be 2nd string So, yeah, the guy who usually bitches is happy
"Tape a cheetah to her back?.....seems like you've thought about this before...." Love those commercials.
The only funny one is where the kid says he can do 2 things at once and shakes his head while waving his hands the rest seem really forced. Kids say some crazy shit, don't force them to talk about their grandmas and cheetahs
well, here's a bit of irony around a pair of our roster moves so far (starting at the 50 second mark): I'm not trying to editorialize on these two roster moves or any others, I just found this to be interesting.
For the record, I disagree with Lalas' assessment of Lovel Palmer on that play. Palmer did exactly what the first defender is supposed to do: Shadow the attacker (he did), don't let the attacker past you (he didn't), and slow the attacker down until help arrives (he did). The mistake on this play was made by the second defender...when he arrived, he should have directly attacked Espy. Instead he takes up a shadowing position just like Palmer which gives Espy the time he needs to play that lofted ball.
Not at all...I'm not actually that fond of the Palmer signing. My post was more of a calling out of Greg Lalas for his incorrect analysis of the play. This stuff is soccer defending 101: First defender slows the play down, second defender attacks the ball. You'll learn this well in any USSF E-license class (which I've helped teach in the past). On that subject, I think anyone who is relatively new to soccer and wants to learn more about the intricacies of fundamental skills, techniques, tactics, rules, etc. should sign up and take an E-license class. They're not too expensive (maybe $50), pretty comprehensive, taught by fun people who know their stuff, and they're a lot of fun (even the classroom parts).
Sneaky once again. Trying to distance yourself from Palmer, just like georg tries to distance himself from Sabo. Very sneaky... I've tried several times to take the E-license class. Each time, however, something comes up and keeps me from attending. This year is the year I actually take the course!
How am I distancing myself from Sabo? When I see faults in his play I call them, When I see his contributions I acknowledge them , Unfortunately Sabo does not always get it done. I think much of this lies in Sabo's head, and much lies in the system Kries and company have created around him. I get it that Sabo is our go to striker, but please Kries and Company start playing a system that maximizes his strengths.
Like IBIK said, Palmer does exactly what he is supposed to do. The fault lies on the second defender and nobody picking up KB at the top of the box. How many portland players were just playing zonal defense in their own box? that's a recipe for disaster. While Espy's ball is awesome, I'd rip my defense a new one if they allowed a ball to come all the way from the end-line, 15+ feet in the air with not much pace, and then land on the top of the 18 (or just about land) with hardly any pressure on the ball. A Timbers defender, if they were playing sound defense, would have closed on Espy and/or won that chip out of the air. If Palmer stabs and misses (a big thing the RSL staff harp on) then Espy is in the 6 with defenders running at their own goal. You don't want that. Palmer did well individually, the team did very poor as a unit. Those wanting to possibly take the E license but not sure if you want to pay the cash - most clubs will cover it for you if you agree to a gentleman's agreement (or whatever the female equivalent is of that) to coach for their youth teams, likely their academy or lowest age group, for the next 2 years. USA roped me in for 4 by covering my E and D license. I'm not too upset by it as I'm not likely to be heavily coaching in the next 4 years.
I don't recall you ripping on Espy all that often. Sabo is the best forward we've ever had (while they were with us).
You just did though.. You've always given Sabo a hard time while giving passes to other players. It's fine if you just don't like the guy, but he's hands down the best forward we've had. I'll even admit he looks lazy at times, but he gets the job done. A lot of forwards that are built to poach or hold up play generally look lazy to most people. They're typically far from it though. It's just not as obvious as the guy running down the wing getting stuck in the corner all game.
So help us out here, Liga MX fan lurkers. Now that old RSL nemesis Cruz Azul and Morelia have started the Liga MX season, rosters are frozen, right? The Mexican League used to have a rule that rosters were frozen after the season started. So unless the rules have changed, Javi can't go to Mexico.
HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT EVERYONE!!! Kyle Beckerman just got engaged to his girlfriend. Resume normal bitching....
