If Wynalda really becomes their couch, could you imagine the hilarity if they still would've had Marquez? We'll have to see how it all pans out, but if he's the coach, I feel bad for Olave and Espindola.

Have heard surprisingly little about Colombian players considering moves to MLS. It's still a bit early, but if RSL has its sights on a couple of strikers from that country, then things would likely surface in the next 2 or 3 weeks if they are going to be in the US in time to open training camp with the club.

However, here is an interesting prospect: Stiven Mendoza. He played most recently with America de Cali, and reportedly has had a contract dispute with them. He's under contract until June, but reports say he won't be back with America de Cali. Rumors are swirling that Millionarios are interested, but he denied that recently.

A young (20 year-old), left-footed forward with good pace, and some national team exposure - could he be a target?

Do you really think they are "rare" gems or just lucky to be at the right place at the right time with sufficent power?

    I love the Wynalda choice.

The NYRB team suffers from a PR problem in the NY area. Wynalda will help that dramatically...he's an outspoken opinionated person. He'll attract USMNT fans. He'll get NY in the press more with his mouth than Backe did with his idiocy.

Odds are high he'll flame out in 2-3 years from pure drama, but that's all this team needs with their aging talent.

Tactically Henry's already in charge, just let that happen. I give 1 month of the season before he and Espindola flare up at each other - and then become best pals.

I will be rooting for NY in the East.

Latest reports say Wynalda is out.

On another subject, I'm hearing that full schedules will be out around Jan 15.

Guess I misread things. But I like a PR-hype choice in NY nonetheless.

Don't you care about Lizzy's happiness? What kind of cad are you? You aren't the kind of cad that would act like you know all about RSL's contracts and having not been paid by them and how RSL is mismanaged and so forth and so on? You aren't that guy, are you?o_O

There's your PR blitz. Sounds like it's up to the guys in the papers to start more buzz.

    Are you thrilled?:coffee::sleep:

    That sounds like a deal.

Actually, I don't have any real specifics. Due to new job, and not writing for MLSsoccer.com anymore I'm not as plugged in as I once was. However, I did hear that in early December the team had scouted and been talking to a number of players, and there were 2-3 players (I believe all Colombian forwards) in particular that they were in semi-serious discussions with. However, that was just prior to the completion of the Postobon season, and the team expected that those players would entertain other offers at least through the end of December. The feeling was that none of them were any close to a sure bet to sign, and there was an expectation that other clubs might come after those players as soon as the season wrapped up.

I have no clue what has happened since then (and this info isn't much more than was publicly shared by Garth at Winterfest or whatever it's called).

    Beer, please!

Sidenote: As I was gathering this info in December, Lizzie Bee interrupted (how rude!) to share the details about her Egyptian crush.

Three strikers, and the MLS draft is fast approaching! Remember Futhi Bhembe, the striker of destiny form '09? He was added (albeit briefly). We can add three pretty easily. Nunez! Artur! Tarley! Worthen! Arnoux! Dude from Philly! Bring back Pablo Campos (who could of helped us in 2011 to be fair).

Not that I think this is what's planned, but saying we'll add three strikers is as "weighty" as anything any of us could come up with.

Post was worthy of a $8.50 beer at the home opener, amber bocks on the north end are the best.

The Striker of Destiny! I played an entire season on FIFA as him thanks to that moniker. Not the most enjoyable or productive season, but it was hilarious every time he walked on the field.

Strikers are made not bought [R Van Persie excepted] the majority of 'big' name striker transfers don't reach their full potential for a couple of seasons , if ever. You require a young striker(s) with signs of talent, teach him your style of play, make sure he's got a football brain, don't let him be home sick, ensure he instinctively knows where the goal is, mould him to the senior striker then let him loose -- being able to strike the ball cleanly and being able to disguise the shots may be considered attributes but there are plenty of players that don;t have these abilities

If you are determined to get rid of Jason - I could make myself available - part-time only however
