I'm glad someone else did a double take on that. I'm flabbergasted.

The best two targetmen in the league, Kaiteng? Really?

Unless TFC gets Chris Wondolowski (which ain't happening), then TFC really doesn't. Sorry for the letdown here.

I brought my best homerism at that point.

Still, at one point, Koev looked to be that good before he tore his knee, right?

Crap. We selected Califf in the re-entry. Not only is he incredibly overrated, but he much preferred going to f***ing Chivas than coming here. Hopefully they're only using him as trade bait.

As for former reds, Avila goes to Colorado (hopefully he'll do well there) and both Gargan and Harden (someone actually picked him!!!) are going to San Jose. Barrett and Freeman to the revs

Toronto FC had reached a new contract agreement with Danny Califf before #mls re-entry draft even took place, I'm told

Danny is a good defender, could be a decent move depending on how much of a cap hit he will cost us. I think he is a upgrade over someone like Cann or Harden. I just wonder if we will get another CB somewhere else or maybe move the focus in the CM position. Personally I wanted to see Clark here.

Also as assumed Hall and Wiedeman re-signed with the club

I think now, my money is on Avila being that player

I'm not so sure. I like Avila a lot as a player, but he belongs on a team that plays possession football, not a long-ball team like the CRapids. I wish him the best of luck, but I have serious doubts about him being able to be at his best on that team

They're not a long-ball team with Pareja at the helm. At the very least they certainly don't plan to be.

That's good to hear. I really have nothing against the CRapids, I just don't want to see a footballer like Avila stuck in another team like Mariner's TFC. If Colorado plans on playing him right, than I'm happy for him

Chivas fans say that LA MLS reporter, Scott French briefly tweeted that Chivas was shopping GK Dan Kennedy to TFC for Luis Silva. Apparently the tweet was removed. What are you guys hearing?

Never heard anything about that potential trade but doesn't make much sense from our point of view.

Trading Silva for a GK, ANY GK, would be the stupidest move this club has ever made, and they've made a lot of them.

As others have said, it would be a boneheaded move for tfc to do that. But the fact that it would be a boneheaded move certainly doesn't rule it out based on the history of this team.

I think though that the one thing that tfc seems to be doing with their moves is to go younger and cheaper. So, from that point of view it doesn't fit that they'd be trading away Silva, or trading for a keeper when they do have a few young keepers already that they seem to be happy with.

lol, and I'd put a small bet on Milos getting a goal on us as well...... (late game, behind, box set piece....) former players always get us (gargan, Carl, cunningham, Maicon....)

According to Ives we are in the lottery (got highest odds) for Gale Agbossoumonde who is a 21 year old center back who been all over the place from Sweden, Portugal, Germany and Carolina.

IMO, when it comes to drafting players there are two approaches: you can either draft based on what your needs are or you go for the best player available at the time.

I am of the opinion that you should always go for the best available player. The other approach is how the Raptors ended up picking Rafael Arujo way higher than he should have gone. Same with tfc and aaron maund.
Even if you have all the centre backs you need and the best available player is a cb, you are better off picking him and then working a deal with someone else rather than wasting a pick on someone who should be taken later in the draft.

O'Dea and Califf with Henry and Agbossoumonde in reserve. I actually think we've now got an amazing CB group for the future with two solid enough players to start for now. Time to concentrate on midfield and forwards now...

I think if the best player is one that you don't need, and the player you want will probably go later, than you trade the higher pick for a lower pick and assets. Right now I think there are a bunch of clubs who will want the CBs available at the top of the draft. I think we should hold onto the third pick, and trade the first overall pick for a midfielder and later draft pick

So team is starting to somewhat round shape going into the draft, right now our current situation is something like this.

Clear to see going into the draft and remainder of the window to get a number of wide and central mid-fielders as we are pretty thin both quality and quantity though few players can play multiple positions (Hall, Silva and Wiedeman play the wings)
